Hi
What would be an average cost for an engine swap on a legend 98'? Anyone know? ... perhaps place a NSX engine into a Legend :-)

Any ideas? suggestions?... anything...?
Thanks

thats a lot of work... NSX=MR
its gonna be plenty of custom work involve...

MR = Manual?... I believe there are some NSX engines which are automatic... that is what I have heard... but haven't had much time to look into it. If it is manual, a manual conversoin could be done... with abit of work, could it not? I wouldn't mind a manual conversion with a NSX-R engine in a 98 Legend... just not too sure about the price tag on that... might cost more than an NSX!

Hmm thats right, it is a mid engine rwd. I hadn't thought of that... damn. Yeah i was thinking of sourcing an engine from japan and asking them to send it over here... the only engine I can think of to put in a legend would be an nsx... but since its mid engine rwd.... that might be a bit of a hassle. I think my engine is going to die on me anytime now... thats why i'm thinking of putting a new engine in.

its a 98 legend and its got 130k kms ... not sure if its going to die or not... but its idling is pulsating, less power, etc etc i havent had the time to go to mechanics because of work so not 100%. Im preparing myself for the worst...

well make some time go to a mechanic, get them to look at it. it will cost u less than doing a swap (and unless u own a money tree the only motor your goining to be able to swap is anuther C35)

my 94 3.2 V6 rolled over to 250k just last nite and is running smooth and still has power (136kw atw, dynoed 3weeks ago at revzone)

just because its not idling smooth doesnt mean you need to replace it.

how often and wen was it last serviced?

I'm just looking at worst case scenario, hopefully its alright but its loss of power and irregular idling as well as burnt petrol smells coming out of the exhaust may be a good indication that the engine is not doing well. But I've always wondered what a nsx engine would be like in a legend. Probably would cost around 15k to do i would think.

Actually I've only just bought it so I will be getting it serviced soon, when I have the time. But IF the engine is in a bad shape, in your opinion, what would be the best way to go, rebuild or engine swap?

engine swap from another legend.

by gen1 legend has done 230.000 kms and she runs f*cking sweet so in your case just get a good service and a big tune and you should be right.

think outside the box. it doesnt have to be a honda engine

all the decent engines for a car of that size are rwd too

2jz?

lexus v8?

I figured with a honda engine it would fit pretty much straight in with minimal mods... haven't really looked into other types of engines actually.. thanks for the suggestions.

wtf a toyota 2jz would not fit and if it could it would cost big $$$$$. If you want a new engine with no fuss and power then put in a 3.2v6

i know, he doesnt seem to care and it's more logical than the nsx engine he wants

those engines are much easier to track down than an nsx engine

if i recall John Blairs in melbourne sold a brand new NSX motor last year, in the box for around 9 grand. Personally i would rebuild your current engine (C27, C32?) and boost it. Look to spend a fair whack on it though, 5 figures at least

The current engine is C35. I suppose I can get another C35, but wheres the fun in that?! 9K for a 0km NSX engine is not bad! considering turbo charging costs around the same...
