found out today i need to have my car at least 15cm off the ground to get on the back of a transport i have wound up my coilovers but still need another 3cm since it just has to go onto a truck, get to sydney, and get off a truck again i was thinking i could wedge some rubber blocks between the coils of the springs to stop them compressing and therefore keeping the car higher. reckon this would work? thanks for any help cheers!

dont think thats very safe, just put a shit load of wood as your wheels are rolling up the ramp, and vice versa when your taking it off the truck.

Depends on the spring rate... if they're soft it would but not something I'd recommend doing... if they're hard, the rubber will probably just fall out :p
Don't you have stock springs or anything lying around that hopefully the coil-over springs replicate?

take the front bumper off..

Exactly!

I used to take my Civic's front bumper off everytime I got new tyres or got it towed (thanks to dizzy problems).

Instead of using bolts on the sides to fasten the bumper, I used cable ties so its easy to remove (scissors) and reattach. Plus they are good when the bumper hits speed bumps etc.. because they snap easily rather than have the bolts bend and damage the front side panels.

ps. you can use a couple of wood slabs as an extra ramp under the front wheels to get the car ramped up onto the truck.

you could cut circles out of pieces of wood that are thick enough to raise the car enough making sure they are slightly larger than in diameter than the springs
then cut a slot from one edge into the centre but make it big enough to house the shocks shaft
then you can jack the car up compress the springs and insert the pieces over the shockies shaft so it sits between the spring and the shock top and has the shocks shaft running up through its centre

you may also want to use ply wood so you dont have trouble with the wood splitting down the grain under pressure

you could even wrap metal strip around it that has an over lap that will sit over the spring a lil so it cant fall off

i strongly suggest AGAINST any "diy" method of raising or preventing compression via bits of wodd etc as its simply too dangerous.
Either take off your front bumper as mentioned or install stock suspension for the trip. Only takes a couple of hrs of mucking about.

Agree,stock sus for trip.
Possibility of truckies driving car on & off truck themselves to shuffle cars that might come off before yours if theres a schedule change or truck breaks down or similar.I wouldnt take that chance for a minor investment of your time & money.Transports have a lot of humps on their trailers these days.

went to a honda dealership and they confirmed that the honda s2000 is actually shipped with inserts in the springs to stop them compressing. the mechanic there said that is is do-able but dont drive the car like that (loading and unloading would be ok) thanks for the replies though guys but they have turned around and said it would all be ok and it would be loaded on an enclosed carrier if needed. i am not paying for any of this, the company i work for is, so i am happy with an enclosed truck! btw it was the sideskirts that were the problem not the front and rear and they are glued on.
