Current prices are now lower than what any of us paid as they are now coming in tax free (Free Trade Agreement) from Thailand instead of Japan.

I'm inclined to think the Civic is a far superior car to the Jazz (when taking price into account) but if you really like the Jazz, go for it. After all, it's what you want which matters.

As vividjazz pointed out- the FTA has benefitted Honda greatly. That's why Civics can be in the sub $25k bracket, and Accords start at $29990.

New Civic is only available as a sedan in Australia and the Jazz as a hatch. If you want a hatch the Civic is not an option.

Civic doesn't have flexible seating / magic seats so also depends on wether load capacity and carrying flexibility are important.

The Civic has more power but not as much as the raw figures show when power to weight is considered and the Civic has marginally worse fuel economy as would be expected from the larger engine.

Its horses for courses. The cars are priced to entice you up the range. Your meant to think oh its only a few thousand more for a Civic and then when in the Civic range oh its only a few thousand more for an Accord. Its not always that easy to find that few thousand dollars more.

As for price on the Jazz or any car if you shop as close to the end of June as possible you should get the best deals as the sales drones try to make budget and commissions before June 30.

I got my jazz from John Blair Honda in Prahran on High Street.

They give out pretty good prices.

Try going in and see what they can offer you.

I assume you're in Melbourne?

yay, looks like ill be putting a deposit down on a new jazz Vtis tomorrow.
Got a really good deal too :) just waiting for them to fax through the details, so its all in writting before i pay a deposit.

Only downfall is it could take up to 8 weeks for delivery, but the bonus side to that is i will get to save a bit more $
