While i was away on holiday for a month the car was never started so i knew i was coming back to a dead battery or possibly a battery with a bit of charge.
When i came back the car battery was completly dead (even the alarm was not working) so i had to jump start the car with one of those portable units (which i've used before). The car started straight away and so i drove it around for a while to give it more life. After a few days, with each day driving the car, the car would struggle to turn on so i decided to do the proper thing and take the battery out and charge it.
Once i had charged it for 14 hours i placed the battery back in the car and the car still struggled to turn on so on the following day i thought i'd drive it around for 2 hours non stop so that the alternator would charge the battery.
Even after the 2 hour drive it still struggles to turn on.
Ive got a capacitor for my stereo and i think when i first got it installed, they said you had to charge it up?
So the question is, is my battery screwed for life and i have to buy a new one? or is it because the capacitor keeps sucking the battery dry while i start the car even when the stereo is not turned on?
thx
