hey all.

just wondering if cam gears that will fit b16a are compatible with other b series engines such as b20b or b20a.

thanks

I highly doubt it. As if this were the case they wouldn't bother to make aftermarket gears for all the different models, it would simply be one fits all type deal.

afaik b16a cam gears are slightly smaller circumferance / teeth number than b18c camgears...

I know the CAT cams posilock gears do B16/18/20.

the number of teeth relates to the job that the cam gears do,

and that is turn the camshafts one revolution for every two revolution of the crankshaft...

crankshaft gear has 16 teeth, cam gears have 32...

EDIT - right way around

except that i am NOT 100% that B20A ones are,

but all other ones are the same...

i am looking it up now though, so will have definitive answer on B20A in a few minutes...

the B20A cam gears appear to be 5 spoke ones,

as opposed to the 4 spoke ones on the B16A, B18A, B18B, B18C & B20B

however, it would appear that IMO they *should* be interchangable... (due to same belt tooth size & teeth)

Ummm the DOHC cams will turn 1 time for 2 time rotations of the crank. A SOHC cam will turn 1 time for 2 crank rotations. My DOHC cams are 2 times the size of the crank gear. I haven't built a SOHC Honda but I bet it's the same as a Chevy where the cam is 2 times the size as the crank. It's late so I could be thinking poorly so let me get a few more beers in me!!

Agree, I think they are all interchangable.
