I'm in the process of changing my thermostat, and am doing the coolant as well, i have pulled out the reservoir to drain it and theres a fair amount of buildup in the bottom so i have three options:

1) try and clean it (doesnt work, have left it to soak for quite a while with no result

2) leave it as it is

3) buy a replacement (would this need to be genuine or would i be able to get something from supergay auto or similar)

any advice appreciated

i put in bicarb soda and hot water got rid of the cunky bits and pieces, then repaet again and used a bottle brush, worked a treat fairly easy nothing more to it. clean it as u dont want that gunk in ur new coolant and then build up in other places...

i use small pebbles/rocks, and put em in with the water, and start shakin like crazy, works fine, but be sure to get all the small particles of the rocks/pebbles when your done cleaning it, but washing the bottle out 1000000x, you get my drift.

^ Or go to a auto parts store and get a long handled brush and start scrubbing!
