Ok the problem is iam thinking about buying springs and shocks for me dc5 integra (base model), but the springs (spoon progrssive rate) are rated at a 20mm drop for a dc5 R, and i was woundering whether the base model sits higher than the dc5 r. ive heard that the springs r longer in a base but the spring rate is lower and that both the R and the base r the same height. So does anyone know for sure whether the wheel gap is bigger in the base model than the dc5 r or whether they r the same and the the difference in spring rate adjusts the difference in spring length.
And yes i know the spring will work on a base dc5.
But if someone has a stock suspension dc5 r can u please please please measure the front and rear gap of ur car in cm so i can compare to my car.
Thanx heaps in advance.

Man the DC5 Body shape is the same, whether it be a base model or Type R. Its still a dc5 Integra. Only add on parts to the frame are different.

Thanx but i know the body shape is the same, but iam trying to find out whether the springs r the same or not, and whether because of the different springs the car sits higher in a base or not or whther the type r springs r just stiffer.
theres a few things you need to remember here.
1. JDM DC5R is about 15-20mm lower that AUDM DC5R so take that into account when you measure up.
2. Im pretty sure that both aussie models are about the same height stock but they have different springs and dampers.
3. spoon springs are designed for JDM DC5R so make sure that you do get new dampers as well otherwide i would imagine that your car would be all over the place on stock dampers.
If i remember correctly the measurment on my stock dc5r was about 390mm from the centre of the wheel to the top of the guard.

there are some before and after pics of my car in that link after i had whiteline springs put in that gave it a 345mm measurement (look only at front there was something wrong with rear springs in those shots)
i hope that hepls.

Thanx man it helped heaps, iam thinking now of either getting the spoon springs and koni yellows (dampers), or i might just get a set of tein ss coilovers. hmm
But still weighing up the pros and cons of both. (e.g. engineers certificate for coilovers)
But how much did u get ur whitleine springs for?
i got them all fitted with alignment for about $500.
i didn't know you needed a certificate for coilovers.
i cant see why you would need one for coilovers and not if you put the koni's and springs, you might want to check that out.

yeah i thought u didnt need a certificate either, and iam still not sure. But one of my mates got his coilovers for a wrx and said he got a certificate, but i still dont think u need one.
So does anyone here have a engineers certificate for coilovers?
