Hey Guys, I'm recently new to this, so I hope im doing this right. I have just recently got a civic 99, coupe. I was jus wondering what suggestion you may have in increasing the power on it, the most cost effective way. The options that I know of atm are 1. computer chip, 2. bigger muffler, 3. cat back exhaust, 4, k and k pod filter. ANy help would be great. But yer, my intentions are to do it all eventually, but whats the first best thing to do to increase the power quicker

What motor do you have? Is your Coupe VTi?? GLi?? VTiR??

If you want to increase power, just get the basic bolt on's, such as Intake,Header,Exhaust ... sticking a bigger muffler on doesnt do anything but make more noise... you need to do the full exhaust system and depend on your engine, get mandrel bent pipes that are around 2 - 2.5"

The first mod i would do to a car is to drop it on its arse... lol... but if you want your first power mod, then just go with intake to start things off..

yeerr its a GLi. nah not gona get a turbo.. so bolt ons are good aye?
well im thinking exhaust cat back or computer chip.
i dont know much bout the computer chip, but will that make it perform better than getting the new exhaust system?

As suggested, go for the simplest of mods first, which is an intake, it'll help your car breathe better (and you'll get a nice suction sound).

You can either choose from:

*An SRI (Short Ram Intake) which is basically just a pod on a pipe sticking out in your engine bay, but also leaves the possibility of it sucking heated air in

* OR alternatively, a CAI (Cold Air Intake) which is longer than the SRI and goes down all the way behind your front bumper. This setup ensures you're always providing a consistent feed of cold air to your throttle body, or engine for that matter.

Hope that helps.

Chunky man, not everyone has money popping out of their arse to get all those mods listed, and not everyone wants to be a HP warrior and slap on a sneezing snail... He just wants some power mods, not extreme power mods :P

Anywaiz, i dont think a "computer chip" does anything or if it does, it does very little in gaining power from a stock motor, you need mods to make a difference first, so just go for an intake... i suggest just get a K&N panel filter and slap that into your current airbox, its not exactly the most sexiest looking bling mod for your engine, but it does the job and is legal, just make sure you remove your resonator.

I am going to close this thread. Please search as a number of these questions have been asked in the past.

Your first stop should be the sticky thread that I created at the top of the noob forum "So you want to modify your car".

From there search the civic forum.

If you have more questions after doing this PM me and I will reopen the thread for you to ask more questions.
