Hi,
just wondering if there is any way of making my exhaust quiter than it currently is, i have x-force 4-2-1 headers, sports cat then 2 1/4 back to a magnaflow double wall cannon. i got pulled over by police because it was to noisy and need to know a simple fix to keep performance but less noise. currently it idles at 96 decibels and when at full throttle 111 decibels. Would a second cannon work??

i had the same setup on my b18b, it was 122 dB at peak. i tried a few different pipe sizes, and the only thing that got it under limit was removing the cannon, and putting a proper muffler on, i didnt notice a loss in power. i guess you could try a second cannon though..

cant go with the silencer cause its a double walled cannon :(

This has been covered, but put in a stinking long resonator.

How long? Put in a longer one.

nah i didn't get defected, police arnt to bad up here they just want me to look into getting it fixed, was thinking about a longer resonator but not to sure if it will make much difference as i already have a fairly good one, what about a type r muffler? or would that affect perforcance to much?

How long is 'fairly long'? I have a 22" resonator on mine and it reduced the sound considerablly from the smaller one that I had.
My suggestion would be take it to a competent exhaust shop and ask for their recommendations. You could add a second muffler, but IMHO you would be better and cheaper to add either a longer or even a second resonator.

thanks, the bad thing about alice springs is that there is like one exhaust shop around and he doesnt know exactly what to do to make it quieter, i might go and organise a longer resonator and c how that goes

or alternatively you could get another reasonator added. They make them in various sizes so that you can have more in different places.

but will the performance be affected compared to the cannon?

u dont want to put a 2nd cannon on, this will only increase volume, good rule of thumb would be almost 6dB using basic physics.
options to make it quieter:
put in something with more restriction, longer resonator/ another resonator
change mufflers, something like ITR will do nicely coz its made for higher performance without the hardcore restriction
put in a silencer, most good cannons will come with a silencer, matter of doing/undoing one bolt and u can take it off/put it on.
put on a twin loop muffler
put on a remus axle back muffler

phoah, a 22in muffler...
noob q...
will hafing 2 or more or bigger resonator (22') make it lose power?

22" resonator, not a muffler. theres a difference ;)
unlikely but it would probably make it drone more.
the last resonator i had was pretty much straight through with the sides doing the work, but that was a crapy crap one. not sure what my new mugen one looks like inside but it sure does souond quieter ;)
