1989 GL hatchback weight?

[Terrible One]

According to www.redbook.com.au a 89 GL hatchback weighs 825kg, is this correct? How much weight can be safely stripped from one of these? I'm talking no rear seat/carpet/trim whatsoever, two lightweight race seats and everything not needed behind the dash stripped out (heatercore etc).

I did a search and couldn't find anything.

We got my girlfriends old Civic stripped out, from the front seats back and shaved quite a few kilos of weight from the car. The seats were replaced with Mugens that weighed bugger all

with abit of chop chop and strip almost eveything low-mid 700's is prob as good as you'll get.

It was under the 750Kg mark from memory with lightweight(4.3Kg) 15" Enkei alloys

Here are the weights of what I have stripped out of my 1988 GL Hatch. I weighed everything as I took it out.

Interior:
Replace Seats: -4.0kg
Front Carpet: -4.0kg
Rear Carpet: -1.0kg
Rear Parcel Shelf: -2.0kg
Rear Seats: -12.0kg
Seat Belts: -6.0kg
Side Plastics: -5.0kg
Other Plastics: -3.0kg
Spare Wheel: -12.0kg
Jack: -2.5kg
Roof Lining: -2.5kg
Centre Console: -2.0kg
Headunit: -2.0kg
Sound Deadening: -4.0kg
Rear Winsscreen Wiper: -1.0kg
Misc Pieces: -3.5kg
Total: -66.5kg

Footwork:
Replace Suspension: -6.0kg
Total: -6.0kg

Engine:
Cat Back Exhaust: -10.0kg
Headers: -9.5kg
Clutch & Flywheel: -5.5kg
Power Steering Ass: -3.5kg
Crank Pulley: -5.0kg
Battery: -7.0kg
Air Con Unit: -7.5kg
Total: -48.0kg
Total: -120.5kg

There is probably still more you can take out or parts you could replace for lighter ones. I am going to take out a few more things when I get my car back.

And 88-92 ED Civic suspension is the same as 88-92 ED CRX suspension

also note as well that ed/eg/dc sussy is interchangable with the use of the correct rear lower control arms and front forks.

ekslut, when you removed the heating unit, did you take out the evaporator unit and blower box too? so you took out everything under the dash?
