I LOVE MY TEG. I drove a BMW 335i (twin turbo) it was AWESOME but for some reason I couldn't see myself driving it...

Avid solid torque mounts. lol Nah they are awesome. If you want a smooth comfortable ride - by a soarer or some other shit barge like that.
I think i have been officially converted to honda's for life. Having owned a volvo 240 lol, and 2 nissan skylines R31's (one na one turbo) But i would buy a volvo or another r31.

Today i drove a Nissan 370z, i officialy hate my car. lol
Well no shit, there is no comparison.. a 70grand car vs a 3 grand car lol
1. Needs sound deadening for comfort, but doesn't bother me as I'd rather it lighter
2. Turning circle quite large.
3. Dislike having to vtec at least once every drive, waste of fuel.

EG turning circle? Isn't it good? I had an EG before my teg and it was heaven in comparison! Actually, interestingly, on paper, the EG has a smaller turning circle than a Jazz! However, in real life, our Jazz killed my EG.

i wasnt classing the GSI as a high performance Integra, the final gear is a killer if you want to go faster quicker but perfect for highway driving.. I just think off the line it isnt all that bad!

off the line theres not a whole lot of difference between B18B n B18C... its when u hit vtec thats where all the difference is. I didnt mind the FD in the GSI, good for highways but u could even cruise in 5th at 50km/h so long as it wasnt uphill.

Car: DC2
Top 3 dislikes are;
1 - Blindspot, the blindspot is annoying, you must look carefully.
2 - Turning Circle, it's shocking, even a Toyota Camry has a better turning circle.
3 - Acceleration, when in a race at the traffic lights, you must rev around 2500rpm or 3000rpm then dump the clutch and floor the pedal to the metal, then it GOES HARD, if you don't do this, the CAR is SLOW when accelerating...even a commodore V6 would wipe you off the line. =)~ ;-)
that's my 2cents.
1 - Depends on the person
2 - Completely agree
3 - You've just described launching for pretty much any street car.

turning circle - too massive
recaro seats - im asian and i still find them squishy
gear box - so weird driving with 6 gears having driven cars with 5 gears for 2 years
exhaust - it should either be quiet or be loud. the stock one can be quiet and then it can be annoyingly loud in the background when you're trying to cruise.
revs - car revs a bit high(well i think so), im the type of driver who likes to keep my revs under 3k's.

LOL.
gearbox - Keep 6th gear for freeway use. Just use 1 to 5, then when you get to 90-100km/h stick it to sixth. Makes it easier to acclimatise to a 6 speeder.
revs - Honda = VTEC/i-VTEC = 8,000rpm+ redline. If you don't like high revs, errr, find something else.

Oh mannn... i wish i had a 6-speed. With a DC2R box ur revving at like 3.5k sittin on 110... i dont have a very loud exhaust, but even then i get a headache after 10 minutes at that speed in 5th. Even at 80 its revvin a tad high if u gotta sit on that speed for a while. 6-speed ftw.

98 DC2 Vti-r
Dislikes:
Mods cost a lot of money
Oil Filter is in a horrible spot (need tiny hands to get out)
Every commodore wants to race (most p plater)
Getting chased by commodore who got beaten
Not enough room for full size spare, reduced to crappy space saver
Likes:
Beats all N/A 4 cylinders, and most N/A 6 cylinders off lights
Not many in Townsville (I have seen 5 including mine, the other 4 are gsi)
Good on Fuel (Around town 450 on 98 350 on 95, Highway 600 on 98 400 on 95)
Feels good when you hit VTEC

If that's the way you drive, then I'll be 1st in line to buy it when you decide to trade up. If you always shift <3000rpm, your engine (as long as its serviced well) must be in mint condition.

Once u get a B-series, you'll never know how u lived without it. Ive driven both GSI and VTi-R Integra I. Own a VTi-R Civic, and its 1600 motor is much better than a DC4 engine. A VTi-R Integra however, is even better, the extra torque and power of the VTi-R B18C is nice, the 0-100 sprint definitely feels faster than the B16a civic (-1 full second stock-stock).
Unless your gonna put a turbocharger on your DC4, dont spend a cent on it and save up for a B-series car. It might take a year or 2 (depending on your job) , but u'll thank me for it.
BTW, I love DC2s to death, but even though I'm slower in my EM1 Coupe, IMO its a more Stylish car. That said, each to his own.
Peace,
Mike

That's a kinda harsh call Burak213.
There are many factors to take into account, sure the DC5r has a 2L, more powerful engine, but I think that other people will agree with me that double wishbones are more sophisticated (+more exxy) that the suspension setup which is on the DC5r.
I'm talking suspension, not power and acceleration (I know a DC5r will be faster on the track through more power and esp Torque), but I'm talking about handling.
I can supply you with a lot of info from reputable sources which state that the DC2r is the best handling FWD car ever. Even though it's 10+ years old, it hasn't been bested.
Maybe someone else (apart from _BORDO_) can back me up.

I didn't say anything about the power or acceleration about dc5 and dc2
what i meant to say is that you can't nitpick little issues about the dc5 when you dont drive one nor take one to the track to test it out for yourself.
You seem like the typical honda hating person who loves to jump on the bandwagon cause Jeremy Clarkson said the new civic is crap cause of the cheaper suspension option
supply me with all the info you have that dc2r is the best handling car ever. Cause i would agree with you, it is a very hardcore car and the dc5 wouldnt be able to take it off its pedestal.
but that doesnt mean the dc5 isnt a well balanced car.

U said that, Im a not a Hondahating person (WTF would I be a member fo OZH if i were?)... I own an EM1 for fu+ks sake, and I plan to get a DC2r/or DC5r if i can afford it. U are really talking shit here.
Furthermore, I don't give a f+ck what Clarkson says, Ive never seen him review the DC25r anyway, so I have no idea what that comment means.
All I can say is you have no idea where I'm coming from. I love the DC5 for Fu+ks sake, I just wish it came with Double wishbone suspension!

I do rememebr however, that Clarkson savaged the new CIVIC Type-r (not 'Teg), 'cause it has torsion beam at the back compared to the fully independent setup on the previous Type R Civic (EP3).
Get your facts straight, I'll post some references on the superiority of DC2r setup later,if i can be bothered.

Flotation device in the reservoir? Huh? If its a DC2 i know they dont have any, and pretty sure DC5s wouldnt either? The onlt electrical device on the reservoir is for low brake fluid. The handbrake has a switch which will turn the handbrake indicator off/on.
1900-hustler
12-04-2010, 03:50 PM
yeah thats the one man
its connected to the cap on that white stick lol
and yes it is for low brake fluid.. i think when it parked - the liquid goes on a slope.. so when i go back onto the flat surface the 'float' is still on an angle.. therefore my handbrake indicator goes on until i level the float out again..

The DC2 is much faster accelerating car then the DC5, and it handles better.
Mod's for the DC5 make it undoubtably faster then the DC2 (modded).
if its stock vs stock its a hard comparison because the DC2 was built originally to go on the track, where as the DC5 they tried to focus on ride comfort and a bit of luxury, as well as maintaining a fair bit of power and handling, but it wasn't the cars main focus like the DC2.

i used to get this with a mates integra. you've got a normal integra yeh? so it should have a 4.4 fd (or something other than a 4.78)?
yeh, it used to drive me nuts. you don't get it with the type r's cos of the 4.78 fd i think. you can be almost at a standstill in 2nd or 1st, whichever you prefer.

I've thought about this before. Even though in it's own right the ITR is quick, it can't compare to a GT-R.
Out of curiosity dude, how do the two compare? You own my two dream cars you son of a bitch :P.
...seriously though, how do the strong points of each car compare? (DC2R=Handling/corners, R32=Power AND corners)?
Obviously your Skyline is going to own the Integra in the power stakes, but is there anything in the Type-R that impresses you over the Nissan?

lol what do you keep the type r for? a daily? do you ever feel like driving it instead of the gtr other than to save fuel :P?
reason i ask is because when i upgrade, it will be to a much faster car, and faster around corners too, so while i have no intention of selling the type r (it's worth quite a few grand more to me than anyone would pay) i'm trying to work out when i would want to drive it.

I spent quite a while looking at Silvias before I settled on a Teg, and I do wish the turbo was optional; I'd rather have an NA vehicle at this point. This is also what put me off the WRX. These insurance costs for turbo vehicles are ridiculous. Not to mention the cost of servicing a turbo and an AWD. The S2000 is nice, but I'd want a Mugen hardtop, and they're a more challenging drive. Obviously well out of my price range, too. I was more in the market for an MX-5 than an S2K.
Likes: The Integra gave me certain elements I like about those vehicles, but also the practicality, reliability and economy of a Civic. Seemed like a great option. I also managed to get a '99 GSi with 110,000kms and full dealer service history for $6k.
Dislikes: The previous owner scuffed the front bar, and installed horribly cheap 'F-1 Rally Wheels'. Mother Nature also hailed on the bonnet, the bitch.

well thats weird because mine chews through the first half a little bit faster i think, maybe because when you've got half a tank the cars a bit lighter?
in all honesty though i think a lot of people think they're losing fuel faster but it's just that sometimes they drive differently.

Some tanks are not a square box, it may be larger toward the top then narrow out toward the bottom hence why the bottom half goes quicker.
It also has something to do with the fuel tank float and needle.

Turning circle sure is shit but steering is meant to be stiff so that when going over bumps (in track scenarios), the steering wheel doesnt toggle as much compared to soft steering wheels.
If your not getting 450kms+ on a full tank, then get your O2 sensor checked.

Is this refering to dc5 or dc2/4? cos iirc dc5 has a 65L tank and dc2/4 has 50?

This. Steering on the Teg is awesome. The only thing that sucks about my Integra is lack of V-tec and lack of power in a straight line. The Integra is by far the funnest car I have ever driven when corners come into play. I haven't driven anything amazingly awesome before though :/

u turns in small streets can be a pain - esp because DC2Rs have issues with getting into reverse sometimes lol.. i have to go to neutral, then first, then neutral then reverse all with a clutch pump in between..
but down spiral ramps in shopping centres? if i can manouvre a dual cab hulix in a shopping centre a teg should be a piece of cake lol..

1. Poor lumbar support on the seats (I'm getting old, long drives make my back ache)
2. Torque steer
6. No LSD, on my VTiR anyway
7. FWD
3. Crappy plastic top tank on the radiator (I have a new one now)
4. The clutch seems to wear out quickly, but that might just be the way I drive
5. The price of standard exhaust parts (I like to keep it stock)
8. The tightening bolt for the steering requires the sub-frame to be removed (so my mechanic tells me).
The rear boot lip sometimes annoys me when I put heavy things in my boot, but then it is a sports car so I really forgive it for that. I can also forgive it's poor turning circle.
Despite all that, even though I have the money to upgrade, I really can't find another car I'm interested in replacing my DC2 with - apart from an E46 BMW M3, which is outside my price range just now. ;)

I've owned 2 tegs and personally, have always found the stock lights woeful. Again, personal opinion.
WRX's being common does not change the fact they are a flapping adrenaline rush to drive, and they sound purrrrrty.

You can only do so much within the speed limit. This is true. Cops are everywhere now, not to mention cameras, which makes speeding practically an impossibility. A good street car (weapon...?) should be capable and enjoyable within that 0-110 bracket. The rest is irrelevant.
In fact, the term 'street weapon' is pretty ridiculous. Any weapons-grade ability is only ever usable on the track. People who think of a cars as 'street weapons' are the ones who wrap them around poles. Even an Evo, in stock form, is more of a track car than a street car.

Get a drill, and make a couple of small holes at the bottom. It'll allow the water to escape. Mine had water in every bloody light when I bought it, even side indicators. The mechanic said he could source new ones for me, but that it would be much cheaper and easier to drill the holes. Worked a treat.

Could you post a pic of the holes you drilled by any chance? I just wanna see how they look and where abouts you drilled them.Sorry mate, i don't have my car at the moment. Just use a tiny drill bit, and make a hole that's only a couple of mms. You can remove the lights and drill on the bottom if you're worried about it being visible, or you can just do it where it's (barely) visible. There's no real method to it, just any tiny holes to allow built up moisture/condensation to escape will do the trick. Sorry I can't get a picture, but you can't really go wrong.

Really, the plastic is a few mm thick, so just drill slowly, and as soon as you feel the drill has gone all the way through, stop. There aren't any wires in the light itself, they all lead out the back. All there is inside the light housing is the globes, which are easily avoided. Just use a tiny drill bit, and drill a couple of holes. It's dead easy. ;)

Yeah we all know the GT-R, EVO, RX7 etc can push out monster power, but there is so much potential the DC2 Type-R has to offer. Have you ever driven a boosted B18C7 on the street? LOL @ nuggetR
lol i want a turn =)
-Front wheel drive (understeer, but hey i kinda learnt how to deal with that, i drop my nut less to understeer then oversteer >< still love rwd though)
-I have no vtec to hear (my solenoid needs fixing/replacing)
-Noises while driving
-My Si-Vtec is only 4 lug >.> i like 5 bug oh wells
-Im over it (but slowly getting back into my car >.>)
-Its silver
-Its not a type R
-Ricer cliche
-If som1 sits in the rear left seat for too long apparently their asses feel wet....
-Makes me want to corner hard... even with bald wheels
-Stock height yet SiVtec lip still scrapes on some dips and driveways etc
-Antenna dont work
-Needs 6th gear, just for the fun of it and highway, always thinking abt putting it into 6th to realise i cant becoz its reverse >.>
Now some good comments:
- Even though its an NA and does not make much power, its pretty quick i reckon as it is light, it has some modding potential and this is all motor, i dnt believe in turboing an NA vtec engine but it will cost a shitload
- It might not be a weapon unless you turbo it compared to nissans rb26 or toyotas 2jz but with some slight mods, it will and have seen it beat or keep up with some turbo cars like a gtst etc
- Its fun to drive and revs high
- It was cheap and i dont mind pouring money into it as a 1st car to learn about it, sure its not a type r, im sure with a shitload of money its possible to make it handle like one or close (dont want dc2r owners to flame me) but its a 1st car, i didnt want it to be expensive i wanted it to be a nice daily with some kicks and i dont plan to mod it hardout i just want to do simple bolt on modifications to have more fun factor, ill buy a mean turbo machine after =)
- Its not an egg civic =)
- I dont get called "Asian civic boi" (in asian accent)
- Its an Si-Vtec, not as common as vtirs, and just behind the type r
- Heck its my 1st car, sure i got over it after a few months but realising there were problems arising in the car before i wanted to sell it made me more inclined to keep it and fix it and then mod it for fun
- It aint no cheapy GLi Lancer with dragon stickers in automatic made to look like F@F cars, im happy it does not make 69kw at the fly like they do coz imagine at the wheels >.>
- Appreciate what you have instead of what you dont, work for what you dont have later =)
