I've tried to search for this, as well as looking through the Haynes manual for it..

I've got a blown speaker in the parcel shelf. I need to get the rear shelf out before I can replace it. Does anyone know how to get it out easily?

It's a 97 GLi sedan.

Thank you. Guess I'm not too good at this search thing yet. Sorry.

Well if its the same as an EG Sedan, you dont have to remove it. Pop the boot, remove the screws on the underneath of the speakers then lift them out from the inside of the car (covers should just pop off).

This could be a hassle if you are installing for example 6x9's and are wanting to modify the shelf though.

Dont know if this helps, but its some extra info.

I don't have seperate speaker covers...They are integrated into the actual plastic shelf...
