yeah getting tein ss coilovers :D , but dont really trust myself installing em, so i went to get a quote for installing em, alignment and getting everything adjusted the way i want them, and i was quoted $450, and i was woundering is this about right. Cause someone told me that i should be able to get all that stuff done for about 250, so does anyone know any places thats good and cheaper than 450 to get em done in the sydney/newcastle region (i live in newcastle:( ., but i was planning to get em done in sydney cause the places ive asked here in newy havent really done many coilovers before and quote around 500 so yea.....

What is a corners balance??

Its where they balance out the suspension height to be the same on all four corners ;).

sounds expensive to me!
i installed my own, takes about an hour and i was taking my time.

i obviously didnt get an alignment with mine though.

its about 10 bolts/nuts in total you need to undo, adjusting the coilovers isnt difficult either.

I suggest doin it yourself. Not hard. If you can plug a computer together you can install coilovers.

Off Topic: What do you guys suggest for bedding/running in ya coilovers?? Some people say set them to the highest setting for a few hunder K's and then lower them to where you want. PM me with the answer if you want so that I don't hijack this thread.

for DC5R , wheel alignment is a must after you install a coilover or any suspension work .

when fitting coilovers, wheel alignment is a must as toe angle mite need adjusting.
i got my coilover install for $250 at a mate shop,
and got my alignment done at pedders for $100 for all 4 wheels

negative... corner weigh balancing is when they balance your car... adjust the height of the suspension accordingly so that the each corner are identical to the other... (same front to rear weight ratio for both left and right sides)

rob at hannys done mine for $150. got 4 wheel alignment for $50. no corner balancing.

is corner balance important?
cant u just measure the height at one corner and adjust the rest to be the same?

YES! corner weigh balancing is important... no! u cant just measure the height at each corner... read my previous post...

height of each corner does not mean the car is balanced... read my previous post and u'll understand why....

I installed my tien coilovers myself...and then had a wheel alignment done...$60 all up

Interesting to hear this about "breaking" in the coilovers so to speak...I set mine to the lowest setting and have never turned back...lol

The manual doesnt mention anything about a breaking in period...i guess if it were an important issue, they would mention it, as they do mention a lot of safety precautions in the manual...(one being not to set it to the lowest ride height as it may cause damage to your vehicle...yeah, underbody damage from all the speed bumps...lmao)

corner balancing make a massive difference to the way your car handles, you would be way suprised when you hit the twisties stuff before and after,

its worth the extra money to do it, after all why buy coilover if you dont take advantage of them, if you want a lower car buy springs

What kind of places do corner balancing??? The same shops that do wheel alignments???

Paul1985

yep.
the way they usually do it is by 4 scales, 1 for each corner of the car. They can tell how much weight is at each corner this way.

Nup, I doubt that you would find corner balancing services at a bob jane or the sorts.

and corner balancing is getting the total weight of the front left and rear right to equal the total weight of the front right and rear left by raising or lowering corners via height adjustments or relocating parts (batteries etc). NOT the front of the car to weigh the same as the rear.

I got my MR2 corner balanced at East Coast suspension down Sutherland way.

Another place I was recommended was St George suspension or something. Never found out where it was or the number.
