I'm getting pretty bad torque steer when i accelerate and turn at the same time. Is this because my tires are worn and needs replacing or am i just accelerating to hard? I drive a dc2r btw.

Or is this normal? Sorry i'm a newbie with these kind of things.

hehehe.... spoon computer and SO2's will solve that problem... LOL...

seriously though, what tyres are you running?? if they are the re010... then that's your answer along with accelerating too hard... what is the need to accelerate in the apex anyways?? unless you're mucking around...

You cant both turn and accelerate substantially at the same time - thats just physics.

whats wrong with re010?
they are actually an excellent tire..

im not sure if u can actually get torque steer in a honda, we have no torque .. haha j/k

but if your talking about going hard into a corner ... than mashing it when u hit the apex and the car slides.. or wobbles from side to side..
could be an LSD problem ..
with our car .. u should just be able to hammer it .. and have it carry you through..

Describe your 'torque steer'

Is it the car (ie steering wheel) trying to pull in a different direction or something else?

You shouldn't have a problem with torque steer anyways........and corners should be fine in your DC2R under full throttle( or there abouts) :)

First I want to say that the OEM DC2R tyres: the RE010's are an excellent performance tyre....

Anyway, i think every car tends to feel like it has "torque steer" if you push it through a corner... especially one that's 90 degrees. I'd say its normal and just to take it easy around them right angles :)

you want torque steer???

Drive a Ralliart magna!!!!
Or, closest rivals, Astra Turbo, Startlet turbo on boost....

I thought having equal length half shafts would minimise torque steer, if not avoid it all together...

I never experienced torque steer in my old Gen2 teg. Even that had equal length half shafts. But then again, it didn't really have any torque :P.

i think its probably because you are not used to your car yet.

after i got my car dyno tuned, i gain quite a lot in midrange.
and it gave me a fright aswell. but after a few days of going hard at it. its ok :)

Yeh the steering turns the other way sharply. It has happened a few times like just making a regular right hand turn at a set of lights if i give it a bit that's when it happens. I've also noticed it happens when the road surface is a little bit bumpy. I'm hoping it is just the tires and not a problem with my LSD.

i disagree with re010 being an "excellent" tyre... above average (better than a falken ziex) BUT definitely not excellent...

its excellent
but dun jack the thread .. open another

torque steer?? are you sure?
i have an open diff (vti-r) and i don't get torque steer... a bit of axle tramp, wheelspin etc... but the car never tries to change lanes on it's own.

maybe you mean understeer?

LOL!

i have an open diff'd B20VTEC and i dont get Torque steer - well only when the wheel alignment is out or i am on very worn tyres...

there lies your answer ;)

got the exactly the same prob in my g2... tyre place said my camber was out of wack from lowering.. and could only be fixed with a camber kit...

car is all over the place on bumps.. bit hard to control

Thanks for the feed back guys. I'll change my tyres soon and see if that solves it.
