The 3 dealers I spoke to in Sydney not mentioning names said it could not be done!
Well here is the proof today installed the 17" Rims of a Lux Euro 05 onto my Base Model 04.
I am so happy the drive is so much better!! Words can not describe!

Yeah the average dealer wants 550-600 per rim lets say I got the rims for free but paid for tyres !

Is there any difference in handling now that you have gone to these wider rims/tyres without any suspension changes? Usually people lower as well as change to larger rims at the same time. Post your experiences!

Post your experiences! I personally don't feel any difference when I upgraded my rims to 17". I did lower the car but that's a few weeks afterwards.

Well I do personally find a very big difference overall handeling has much improved, at this stage will stick to OEM suspension but in the future will look at ordering A Spec from the US. :)
can't see pics? Anyway - nice work Rev888
Ordinarily this should be in the appearance section but given there was a purported issue raised by the dealer about whether they would fit - it can stay here.

Nice! I scratched the same rims today on a kerb *sighs*
Though it's not a bad scratch. I plan to swap it out with the spare tyre at the next rotation :$

pfft I cant believe dealers reckon 17" rims dont fit. The 16" stock wheels have virtually the same diameter as the Honda 17" rims (0.38% difference!) ... so why dont honda give them as an option?
My guess is that Honda created a fake marketting barrier to try to entice Euro buyers into getting the more expensive Lux model to get 17" rims, but in reality, Honda/Dealers are loosing money because they dont supply 17" honda accessory rims to the std euro's.
$8000 is not enough to justify 17"+ rim compatibility... and people who give a damn about how their rims look like, will know that 17" and 18" rims will fit with no problem anyway. :p

Eurodude: what gets be going is one dealer said they tried it already but it did not fit! (What I dont get is why mislead people if you have not done it & its a lye)
And another dealer said that the PCD is not the same as 16" rims.

That won't be good for handling though.... When you brake for a corner, the weight transfer to the front will cause the coils to compress but the travel is too short to absorb the force and will result in understeer...

Just a quick question, if you have a set of 18" can you keep a 17" as spare and use it when one of the 18" is flat. If so, what are the speed limitation do you need to adhere to?

If the overall rolling diameters are the same, then you can use the 17". Because the weight of the 17" rim + tyre is different to the 18" rim + tyre, I'd still drive it at 80-100km/h max and get the 18" flat tyre repaired ASAP.

Hey Mate you HIT the nail right on the head with that coment. I suspect this to be the same situation with the civic 06 vti/vtil not being able to apparently take the rims from the sports model. I got he run around from head office about ADR, warranty issues, and much other BS. Now I am looking at a 2004 Euro.

drove around more today, the wheels give a very weird feedback to the steering.. sudden jolts to one side and also it tends to veer to the right, overall its alot harder to drive than with the 16's..
its also a slightly harsher ride, slower acceleration at low end.
Notice the car drifting to the right more than usual??

lol, i figured.. part of me always knew they were shit tyres.. they also wear out really fast and have shitty reviews.
but the only reason i forked out for these rims was coz it came with tyres, and i can't afford to change them now
i'll have to rough it out for a year or however long these last me before i can change..

Go to a good tyre place, they may be able to work out a trade in price on a new set of tyres.Worth a try!!!

update: i've noticed severe wear on my rear right tyre along the outside, which is weird because normally the inside gets worn first... its not so much of an issue as i plan to lower my car and the negative camber should take care of it.. but it never looks nice to have uneven wear..
