Everyone knows that Honda builds great cars and they pay attention to detail to make their cars as good as they are.

This is more of a handling question but in the cars technical sense.

Honda uses alloy blocks, and what I have seen the engines are mounted fairly low, obviously for better weight distribution and lower CG

Now, what about Honda gearboxes? Are they also designed to be lightweight?

More so, a DC5R gearbox, being 6 speed, does that make it heavier in any way?

Please as much info as possible

why??
i don't think i've heard of anyone being worried about the weight of their gbox. i can't speak for k20 boxes but i know my b series hydro box is fairly light

My K24A3 has a magnesium cased gearbox. Why? It saves some weight. So Honda does try to add a few innovations in materials as well. But I think that Honda's strength lies in novel mechanisms like the R18 engine and our VTEC 15 years ago.

Well the car is nose heavy and I am trying to fit one of these in it, hoping that it weighs less than the gearbox in it now, just to balance it out more
