What is involed in tuning carbies? Can carbies be tuned to gain extra horses from using high octane petrol?

Setting the jets, idle mix, flow, floats and much more. Honda carbs are VERY picky so if you change a setting with out knowing what you are doing, you might as well go buy a new one cuz you're not going to get it back to the proper setting. We have a guy here that works only on carbs and he says he can spends days on one Honda carb just setting it up.
