[EURO] Auto gear locked after start the car

Hi.. I have a problem with gear box (auto) yesterday:thumbdwn: . After i started my car, i cant shift my gear from 'P' anymore. It happened twice already. What I did is. I started the car and use another key to unlock the gear(there's a hole to unlock the gear next to gear knob) . Does anyone has that problem in their euro? Can anyone tell me what should I do? Is that a gear box problem?

I'll state the obvious, you know you have to put your foot on the brake to take the car out of Park don't you ?

check if your brake lights are working.
you could have a faulty brake light switch, or your fuse could be buggered.
being a 05 model euro.. that would be under warranty, if it was the brake light switch.
i think fuses are considered servicable/consumable items that can't be placed under warranty.

Thanks for you guys' opinions. Hi Blueeuro, i did press the break before i take out of 'P'. The weird thing is, when i started the engine I saw 'P' (Park) light and 'D' (Drive) light are on at the same time. But 'D' light gone off after few seconds. Basically, only 'P' light should be ON when the gear is in 'P'.
Thanks Des. I checked brake lights. everything's fine. :confused: I might bring to dealer to check when i do service.

Wha if you don't use the key locking mechanism next to the gear knob? I'd do that for a while. Why do you use it anyway?

Coz i couldn't shift gear knob to Drive or Reverse. It is completely locked. just like when you stop the engine, you cant shift the gear.

Its kinda of like Lag when its starts up- But Your hand brake I think must be up before u put it in drive.
