I was searching on another forum and a thread was discussing about automatics and manuals, and one person mentioned modding the box by shift kits and so on...

I'd like to know what modding it actually does, does it make a major difference performance wise and finally how reliable is it to do?

Cheers!

ey d-mac, i didn't realise that you were an auto as well...

(this is STU84W from austeg)

another thing you can do is throw a shift boot over it, and put on an aftermarket auto shift knob.. adds horsepower.. bout 50 atw i'd say :)

nah, this'll bei nteresting, i'd like to know if there's anything else i can do

I doubt this is the same but in Malaysia, I saw my cousin's friend's e46 BMW which had it's automatic transmission modified into a sequential manual; is that what you were talking about?

sell it and buy a manual

and personally i wouldnt suggest using non-gen fluids in the trans, i don't see anything to gain from it in your case
