G'day!
Have been reading this forum for awhile and recently took a test drive in a Lux Euro.
The biggest disappointment was that the salesman didn't really seem interested in a sale and sent with us on the testdrive the pretty lady who tries to sell you fries with your Euro (paint protection etc.) and didn't know much detail beyond how much UV the overpriced tint cuts out!
So just had a couple of questions (tried doing a search and couldn't find exactly what I was after)
Firstly, if for example, you are somewhere like outback NSW and the nearest servo with 95 RON is miles away and you are on empty, is it OK to stick regular go-juice in to get back to civilisation or will you hear pinging all the way home?
Second, are the Honda reverse park sensors integrated into the car audio? Or is there a separate speaker on the parcel shelf like I've seen on some aftermarket jobs?
Third, does anyone have the MP3 accessory? Is it any good? Where does it usually get mounted? I thought it may go in the big storage compartment in the middle of the dash, but it looks like a standard single DAT unit so don't know what it would look like there.
Otherwise, the car "full schick mwate" Was also trying out a Ti Maxima. Euro doesn't quite leap into hyperspace like the Maxima, but certainly felt a nicer car to sit in and play with.

Hey there, don't worry too much about rude dealerships, just go to a different dealership that will treat you right and you'll be much happier. As for your first question regarding fuel, if your stuck with no option but standard unleaded just buy some octane booster from the servo to boost it up a bit. It will cost a bit extra for the bottle but it's better than taking the risk, although the dealer I got my Euro from told me they only put regular unleaded in all there cars and have never had a problem with it, but I still wouldn't take the risk.
As for your other questions, I have no idea:D . I'm sure someone around here will have the answer for the parking sensor question.
My advice would be to just by the car and enjoy many happy km's of Euro lovin'

With the demise of leaded - even the smallest servos now have 95 ron unleaded (they need to use that leaded underground tank for something right?).
I have travelled in some fairly small towns in northern WA and had no problems at all sourcing 95 ron (and that is about as far away from a 'big' city as you can get in Australia). A couple of years ago it might have been an issue but not anymore.
There are pics of the Mp3 player and its location in the Euro accessory brochure. If you want more info PM Peekay34 as he has it.
Edit - just a thought. Isn't the MP3 player a fairly stupid price? Isn't it $1100 or something like that? For less money you can buy a very nice ipod or similar and the AUX IN connection (SNDHOND3 or similar). It would obviously have more capacity than a single CD too so not sure what the attraction is with the MP3 player. Even if you get the 'you beut' AuX in connection that lets you use the steering wheel controls you will still be ahead.

Yep $1000+ is a rediculous price just for MP3 playback. Especially since the MP3 module/circuit is like $10 extra to manufacturer... what a rip off!
I mean I bought my ipod and icelink for less than $800, plus I get 60GB storage and Video playback...
lol you can get a decent DVD player with a motorized LCD these days for less than $1000. Honda want $1100 just for MP3? I'll give 'em $50, not a cent more ;)

if ur in the outback and if u really cant find any 95RON pumps, just put in regular unleaded and after put some octane booster
should suffice

I have a Nomad Jukebox with 20Gb, but thought I'd have to use an FM modulator to get it to work in the Euro...didn't notice an AUX minijack connection on the dash. Just did a search and it appears you have to install yourself and import from the US? Price of the Honda MP3 unit was abt $700, but of course I'd be looking for a good deal on that.

I had the MP3 fitted as part of the negotiated options. It mounts neatly in the top half of the hole once the lower centre storage bin is removed, just above the ash tray. It then has a pocket in the bottom half.

The MP3 player is an $1000 option and IMHO definitely not warranted. You could get a new headunit for around the price, not to mention an aux-input AND an iPod.
I'd rather have the bottom hole than an MP3 player.

I wanted MP3 and I wanted it to work off the steering wheel controls. I got what I paid for. And it is now fully warranted with the car.

When i was getting my car, it was the choice between the Euro and the Maxima, decided on the euro for fuel economy reasons, the option of a manual, also rides and handles better, though the maxima engine is noice :)
But i think the main factor that swung me was the resale value, the maximas dont hold there value very well, my last car was a maxima, lost alot :(

I can agree with you there Pumped. Having said that, when I mentioned the Euro the dealer essentially offered the Ti for an ST-L price. Fuel didn't really concern me because a good part of what I'd save in fuel on the Euro, I'll spend on insurance as the Euro is more expensive to insure.
Wife preferred the Maxima for the power and ride comfort, but she's letting me choose so that I have my fun ride before we have children and end up with a Holden Zafira or some other boring daily drive. Fair trade I guess :D :D
Although a pimped up Odyssey could be an option... :p

park sensors are not integrated into the std headunit, I believe depending on the dealer diff park sensors are installed, most displays I've seen are placed on top of the rear-view mirror.

Thanks for that.
Although do you mean a reversing camera? I am talking about the audible parking sensors that chime as you get closer. I was wondering if the sound comes thru the car's audio unit like on Commodores, Falcons, Maximas etc. or thru a separate little speaker mounted on the parcel shelf like I have seen on some aftermarket jobs (which looks tacky).

Mine (which is an aftermarket one I got on ebay for $60) has an LCD with an audible tone which is quite loud, so I may just put the LCD in the rear since I never use the screen - the beeping is sufficient and can be heard from the boot.
I'm guessing its a similar system to what dealers put in the Euro's, with the speaker in the LCD/RearView mirror unit.

I know its a old thread but I have a answer if you still need it.
The reverse sensor is a aftermarket unit so the speaker sits behind one of the back seats. Unfortunately it doesn't cut out the rear speakers.
