was just reading someof the mods people have done to their Euro's and wondered if they could expand on some of them -eg. the aftermarket leather trim ? any one else with "one-off" or unusual mods care to share when, where and how much they cost ? This might help out some of the noob's with info on how to get their hands on some neat mods..Cheers Gibbo...:honda:

did aftermarket leather trim in black and silver on mine
trimmed all the seats in black and silver leather, trimmed the steering wheel with black and silver leather, the shift boot in silver leather, the floor in black suede and the boot in black leather...cost...if i remember...around 1.5k aud
just be carefull when taking off the steering wheel as wrong procedure can blow out the airbag...so get your car trimmed by professionals only!

i saw some leather seat covers on ebay - anyone seen these ??? only $550 for front and rear and they look like they are a good fit and high quality (i cant find the link at the moment but it was on the Aus site) and you could get options like baseball stitching and the "H" embossed on them.

Yeah,
I have seen plenty of them on eBay, however never seen one fitted to the real car. Does anyone know how that damn thing looks fitted? It is too good to be true - leather trim for 550, which look good!

You just gotta remember that they're a generic cover, and as such will look like one.

this is the link i was refering to - they say that each set of covers are specifically designed for the car. If anyone has got these or knows of a mate with them can they post some pics or opinions, Cheers Gibbo..

seat covers on the euro aren't really a good idea unless they ahve been specifically designed to work with the airbags that are housed in our seats. Having an airbag pop out wrong or not at all could mean some serious damage in an accident

hms I cant see how leather seats would look good if they need to have a large hole for the SRS airbag...

i don't think there's actually any holes on the seat, I believe the stitching is design in such a way that it just tears off when the airbag is deployed. If you notice on your pic, you can see the stitches being torn off.
Curious on the pic, where did you get it from? is that after the air bag is deployed?

Yeah thats what I meant, the airbag blows a hole through the stitching. So you would need a hole in the side and part of the front of the aftermarket leather cover, which would look strange.
The pic is from another member on the forum who's airbag deployed in an accident.

Did mine in Melbourne but the shop moved somewhere I lost contact with them...
for the side airbag that's why you need a pro to trim your seat because you need a special stitch for the airbag to deploy...

But isnt there a safety-sensor in the seat that detects if there is an object in the way of the deployment? A leather cover may fool the sensor.

Thread resurrection warning.
I saw this on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250262319823&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:AU:1123
And i emailed them and this time they actually replied see:
Hello,
sorry for late reply as we've got some problems with our system
yes we absolutly can make the custom cover for your euro, and they are premade and designed specifically for your 2005 euro
yes the covers are already designed to be compatible with the side airbags
All our products is designed for Fully DiY, so basically you will be able to do it by yourself, no need any professional installer at all so you can save your $$$, everything related with the installation will be provided.
(Just Plug&Play Slip Over On Top Of Your Existing Cloth And Our Cover Will Protect Your Original Existing Cover In Result Your Original Cover Will Look 100% Brand New Forever)
Our seat cover is specifically designed for a make & model of car and all of them always come with nice Double Stitching.
It is not a case of "One Size Fits All".
Each our seat cover is "Tailor Custom Hand Made" to suit only the car it is designed for and it's fully retrim upholstery but it's easy to be installed like normal seat cover.
P.S. We are using proper thick double
stitching here(stitched by special double stitching
sewing machine) which is same as standard factory
seats that comes with leather package NOT thin double
stitching that usually other trimmers do.
Cheers
Ultimate Auto trim
Doesn't look like any dodgy gluing is needed.
Im seriously looking at having a crack at this.
