Hi, if your talking about frequency? you mean kHz.
An i would suggest it would probably be around 2 to 3 kHz, as that is a very prominent area for hearing.
were you talking about frequency?

not really, 500hz is down towards the less noticable side.
as humans we are born with a hearing range from 20hz to 20kHz.
20hz being the very low bassy an unapparent to our hearing, as up towards 20kHz is the very high pitch almost undetectable.
The loudness comes from dB (decibels). so a horn may be at 2kHz, but it all depends on how many decibels it is crankin out.
500hz would not be very loud.

mHz and kHz both measure the same thing - frequency or cycles, same thing. Mega is just a lot more frequent than kilo.
Mega = 10^6
Kilo = 10^3

I understand AZNPSUAZN as i just completed a diploma in Audio Engineering.
Didnt you forget to state that, its CYCLES PER SEC. an that sound travels at 343.6 meters a second, at 1 Atmospheric pressure.
Oh yeh of course they both measure the same thing, but when expressing the rating for a car horn i would say you would be using kHz.
An for a car horn, i sourced its approximately 110 decibels.

i got air horns on my car. Make sure u fit them in the bar or they wont be louder than ur current. Mine are under the bonnet and there a little bit louder than stock.
An for a car horn, i sourced its approximately 110 decibels.
From how far away? I got a dB meter and i could measure it

MY apologies CRXXXXXX i had no intention of questioning your knowledge on this matter. I was merely trying to contribute to this forum and answer this lovely gentlemen's question.

aimre: thats the factory standard, approx 110 dB. those figures would probably be produced in an anacohic chamber, or somewhere very silent.
aznpsuanz: sorry, i did not mean it to sound that way, my apologies
