as the topic says, are the ek vtir stock seats that much better than the eg vti seats? asking coz i wanna know whether it'll be worth installing one into my car...a friend has one that i might get off him...haven't had a chance to go try the seat out yet

they will bolt onto my rails right?

dunno...

the eg seats hug pretty well i guess

but if u feel comfort in the EG seats than the EK's than the EG is better...

each to it's own.

yeah personally i like my eg vti seats ay. they're very comfy and i reckon very good stock seats for a car that wasn't fully designed as a sports car in mind ;)

Obviously u guys havent sat in the 97 hatch VTiR seats. They shit all over the eg seats ! no bias opinion. ;)

To add....

EG seats at the least are 9 years old....and minimum 9 years of fat people , OP runs , sexually based situations and lots of spilt food+ ciggie burns = sloshy ride around any corner.

So , even if in the day they were nice- the vtir seats will be by default a much more supportive and comfy experience.
BUT i think the rails are slightly different , so will not be a direct bolt in...

yes i have actually and i agree with you they are better. but all i was saying was that mine were pretty good for stock seats. and also im happy wit mine and i wouldn't bother paying the extra money and going through the extra hassle to get the vtir seats considering how much better they are.

hmmm well i'm gonna head to hondworld soon to check out the teg and civic seats they have in stock...

my vti seats are in excellent condition (no burns of any type, no tears, cloth still almost perfect, foam is in the right shape)...wonder if they'll give me a good value for a swap over...

The EK4 seats are better than the VTiR coupe seats.
They are the almost exactly the same as the USDM Acura Type R.
Only the hatch got those seats.

coupe seats suck, i dun like em
prefer the hatch

i agree with JEMBON. coupe seats are flat and they don't really hold you in around the corners.........anyone want a pair? hehehe

Yeah, the seats in the coupe are sh*t. Lacks lateral support and you sit tall in them :x

i agree :P

best honda seats ever (type R's, nsx and s2k excluded)... designed by recaro. i might sell my seats later after i get my other ones in (if i ever have enough money to do that).

eg vti seats suck big time! bloody things dont even hold you properly every time u take a corner u either end up in the drivers door or the passengers lap.... cant wait to get rid of mine!!!!

go the vtir seats mate!! or anything but vti seats

SiR

But bear in mind, even these VTi-R hatch seats are some 7-8 years old now...personally, I wouldn't buy any 2nd hand seats older than 4-5 years.

MR-VTEC

that really depends on how big you are and how well your body fits the seat.

I hate my stock seats when going through the twistys (vtir coupe).

Talking about seats, when you change them over to aftermarket seats, do you have to pass some sorta engineering test or anything?

MR-VTEC
13-05-2004, 11:49 PM
yes im almost certain you have to get an engineers certificate for it to be legal as your seating restraints etc. must work and work saftely wit the seats.

i could get 2 vtir seats at $200 but they are from a wrecker so it'd be abit on the dirty side and probably not well kept....the single one i can get is from a friend who i know looked after his seats and only took it out coz he put an aftermarket seat in the drivers side...

buy it and sell it to someone in the US - they kill for that kinda of JDMness!!!

Someone was selling 2 VTi-R seats for US$400 on one of the US forums!!

u got that right !

im looking at retrimming a black SR2 recaro in red or black trim to match the type R. It will most likely be mated to a DC2R set of rails.

So if someone wants this seat (genuine recaro) after the trimming and rail attachment then let me know :)

Where would be a good place to go to for sourcing some 2nd hand (VTi-R HB, Prelude VTi-R) seats that are still in good condition? Hontoys and Honbits?

Thanks.
