Hey guys,

I am considering buying an integra but I dont like the bug eyed look headlights of the DC2. I was wondering are there any places in Sydney that have the parts and will do a conversion.

How much $ would I also be looking at?

Would it impact my insurance premium?

thanks in advance

benny

hmmm... parts plus labour... maybe between $5000 and $10000. you might aswell find a real jdm type-r and get it for cheaper than an ausdm type-r and then doing a conversion on top of that. at least with the jdm u get a more powerful engine and other shit...

there's a DC2 JDM frontend kit for sale atm on clubrsx and melbccr.. same guy selling it... asking around $3k i think..

all you'll need is someone to install it for you (which can be considered a DIA job too)

i think the JDM front end is absolutely beautiful. couple it with a genuine JDM C-West N1 DC2 kit and its one of my all time favourite looking cars.

Aussies got this one because Japs thought their JDM wouldn't be popular in Western countries...oh how wrong of them

But then, the JDM does look a bit plain...

Hey Guys,

I thought that JDM ITRs cannot be imported into Australia unless people have them as personal imports from when they owned them overseas.

Anyone know of any good workshops in Sydney that could do all the labour?

thanks guys

benny

From what I remember JDM front didn't make it to Australia because the front end wasn't crash worthy, the AUSDM front is better in a frontal impact. Not sure if you can import a DC2 JDM ITR now, but some did make it through before the AUSDM ITR was released in 1999. Too bad can't import JDM DC5R

a handful of the 96 JDm ITR did make it to australia. privately import though. most came in used:) except for one, that i know, humm...is in the hands of a second hand owner now anyway.

Let's say the kit costs 3000 all up (grill support/headlights/front bar/side panels etc).
You still have to paint it, and pay for labour, ~1000
Install it ~400?

That's almost 5000!

Would you have to get an engineers cert for it?

reason why the front was changed was due to safety regulations...

I did a JDM front end conversion on my vtir, best thing to do is search on-line for the front end, mine cost $1000 for the parts $500 for shipping from Canada to Perth.
I was charged $55 for customs, $155 for inspection which was bull and unnecessary, and $488 for quarantine, all up it cost me $2198 which is quite cheap if I bought it here in Australia. had its fitted and painted for $1000
I had to rewire the park, low beam, high beam and fog lights which I did myself.

the parts were
1x type r bonnet
1x type r grill
1x tyre r bumper and lip
2x tyre r fenders
1x tyre r rear spoiler
1x tyre r rear bumper
1x bumper reinforce
1x nose cut
