what is a long block and what is a short block ??

Long block is, in the case of most cars these days, everything from the throttle-body to the oil pan. Head, block, intake/exhaust manifolds, t.b., sensors, and internals. If it's carb'd then the carb to the oil pan.
A short block is just the block and what internals it would have and a pan. much cheaper but then you have to match the head to it.
Atleast that's what it is here in the U.S.!!

and wats a long stroke??
a long stroke is regarded as a bigger engine like a 2.0L engine and the stroke is longer. they call a B20 vtec a long stroke motor hence LS vtec.
