View Full Version : Installation Technique for Injectors (B16a2/4)
Hey guys is there any special way you know of for installing injectors? Recently had to remove my fuel rail and took the injectors out, apon replacement I get a fuel leak from Injector 2. So I went and grabbed brand new injector to intake manifold seals, as well as the o-rings that attach to the top of the injector, which supposedly seal as you torque the rail down onto the intake manifold. Yet after forking out this money, im still leaking fuel. At first I thought i wasn't tightning enough but after snapping to studs I realise that its probably not the case. Please can someone advise is there a specific method to installing these wonderful devices.
Cheers Lads

Make sure to coat the o rings & seals with oil.
Put the injectors in the rail first, put the seals into the manifold & insert the whole rail as one into the manifold.
Also square up the injectors before u tighten it all down.

as crxer said lube the seals up, oil or silcone lube works well,
my guess its leaking from the fuel rail to injector, make sure you havnt pinched the o ring, or damaged the injector, inspect the O rings for nicks,
when you tighten down the rail tighten each nut down a bit at a time. not one all the way then another.
see how you go.
i might take a pic and post it up, please stay online a bit longer so you can see.
oh *** it! I don't give a toss anymore, mods can lock this thread. Thanks for your help anyway guys...

your knuckle hurt coz you prob smaked them working on yoru car, causing a little cut in the skin then the petrol seeps in. soon you will experience a stinging sensation.
I know how worked up one can get working on a POS and getting no where,
just need to calm down, breath ( very helpfull for me ) and try again.
just a thought swap the leaking injector and all its seals with another injector. example swap injector 2 and 1 over, see if the leak follows the injector or the cylinder. could be the rail.
go kyle lol.
man well if its any concilation. i smell like pretrol right now too and my index finger is ****ed from a wrestle with a heater hose.
i dont understand how/why the injectors arent sealing.
mani seal the bastard in
HOT DAWG!
I found my lead. Now i gotta download some freaking drivers for my POS camera.

nothing probably, looks as if it seats the injector in the rail ( height wise )
alright im going out for one last shot at this guy. gonna replace this ones seal.
wish me luck.
yeah man that O-ring on the end of the injector is fkd !!
ECU-MAN you wouldn't have the torque specs of the fuel rail studs which hold the rail down down?

not with me atm,
but they dont need to be vary tight, 20Nm max,
you must do them up evenly, eg not one at a time all the way.
