Hi guys,
I am just replacing my amp at the moment and I am thinking about changing a few things around (e.g placement of sub/amp ect)
My only restriction is that previously my amp was screwed onto the back of my sub, and thus the cables that are coming out of the sub box to reach the amp didnt need to be very long, and arent.
For lack of motivation to pull the box apart and replace these wires with longer ones I am going to extend them but im not too sure what sort of wires these are.
Basically if anyone can tell me what type of wires come out of the back of the sub and into the amp id be thankful :)
Im assuming they are just the same as those leading from the speakers but just to be sure.
Cheers,
Scott

They'd just be normal speaker wires but of a larger size.
As to what size? It's hard to say since we don't know what cabling was used to install it all but have a look on the cables and there should be some sort of marking to indicate what size the cable it. Or you could cut a small piece of it and take it to a audio store to buy some matching cables.

Cheers..
Ontop of this.. What do I need to amp my speakers? At the moment their going straight into the back of the headunit but if possible, id like to run them through the amp..
My front splits that is...
I assume it would involve removing their attachment at the back of the head unit and running it straight to the amp but again, Im a bit clueless on it..
Cheers

To run your front splits off an amp ... Simply run speaker wires from your amp to the speakers you wish to amplify. Disconnect the wires already attached to the speakers first though, and make sure they aren't going to short out on anything...disconnect them from the rear of the h/u is probably the best option, then put some heatshrink or tape over the ends of the speaker wire to make sure it's not touching anything. Should be all good then. :D
Hope this helps you a bit.

what amp and sub do you have? (post up model numbers)
As this will determine if you are able to run both a sub and a pair of speakers off your amp.
It will need to be a 4 channel amp and allow for bridging of channels 3&4 to run the sub.
So post up those details (amp and sub) and we can give u better advice.
As for the cabling, without seeing what the current wiring is like I would suggest heading down to your local Jaycar store.
Get one of these and run the current positive wire that comes from the battery into this, then run another peice of cable from this to the amplifier.

For the remote turn on lead, just extend the currently installed one using
4mm cable and some either twist, solder and heatshrink or join using crimps and heatshrink.
Shouldn't cost more than $20 to get the distro block pictured, an extra half a metre of 8g cable and a roll of 4mm cable.

For your wire from amp > sub depends on how much power you are running to the amp. You would want thicker than normal speaker wire.
If you want to run your splits via the amp you need to run some RCA's from your headunit to the amp, and speaker wire from the amp to crossover box for your splits.
