redline is 6,800 but can be pushed a little over that prior getting the cut off effect. IMO 6,800 rpm is more than enough for a d16 to deliver its full load:honda:

I have revved it to about 7100 without cutting, so don’t know when it cuts out but might try that soon when I am in the mood

wot happens wen it cuts out?
does the car engine stop running?

I've hit the rev limiter several times in my EK1 sedan (8000rpm).

All it does it stop accelerating (fuel cut-out) and starts to sound like a motor bike when valve-bouncing (or whatever it's called).

8000 :O
im not sure if thats the fuel cut if u can hear the engine rev bouncing. i thought the engine would kinda stop like the throttle closed or somthing coz thats wat happens in my mates xr8. just not to keen on seeing how high i can rev it, might not be a fuel cut at all

It is the fuel cut-out - you stop accelerating. Exactly like what you described with your mate's xr8.

U know in all them racing games on PS2 or XBOX when u rev the car in neutral, how it gets to redline, then bounces?

Thats what the fuel cut off in a real car sounds like.

When u get to a certain RPM, the ECU sops fuel from going in, the revs drop, then once its below a certain point, fuel is allowed back in, and ur RPM rises (and so the cysle continues.)

BUT when ur in a gear (prolly above 2nd) and this happens, its wont bounce neard as violently as ur engine wont have enough tourqe to increase 500 rpm so quickly.

Hope this made sense

I would NEVER push 8000rpm on a D engine with stock internals, anyone knows D engines have very sh#$ rods, very easily snapped/broken = BIG engine damage... IMO, 8000rpm on a stock D16 is the same as asking for a new engine. Dont try it buddy

Can't say I ever take it even close to that. I don't ever take it past 6, but then again having the turbo means the power comes on early and kicks in so I don't need to rev too hard. IMO revving Honda engines should be reserved for the VTEC models.

d16's make peak power between 4000-5500rpm... so any higher your car isn't pulling as hard...

finding the limiter on a frequent basis isn't a good thing... yes, it is there to prevent you pushing the car to its breaking point, but you'd start pricing a new engine if you wanna do it often!

mmmm i'v hit fuel cut a couple of times.. i think because of wheel spin when its a lil wet (need new tyres). Doesnt feel too healthy when it cuts... but before it cuts i think it feels like engine could still rev higher. But im not sure what im revving at cause i got no tacho ^^""

just change before 50-55kmh in first and 80-90 in second.. seems safe for me

By being deaf....No person with hearing would let the car rev out that much..Even if the death rattle of the engine didn't tell you there was something wrong, common sense would...

Like I said, save the revs for the VTEC

i only got SOHC vtec, but it feels like its still pulling past 7k
