View Full Version : What 'extras' Should i asked for at dealer?
Im going to get the latest model Euro accord sports, and was wondering what little extras I should ask to be thrown in into the purchase.
Example fog lights, floor mats etc etc
And what should i avoid, Body protection wax thingie etc.
Thanks.

skip the headlight and bonnet protectors and grab a carbra - they will save more than the others. and the euro sport has foggies so dont worry bout asking for them either...lol But window tint and the bigger ticket items are the ones to go for - they (the dealer) will get them at a cheaper price than you can so your prob best to get them at their price if possible. my 2 cents worth...

Remember that dealers charge alot of money for the accessories. Its best to get the minimum accessories possible, and do most of it yourself.
Floor mats - you can get aftermarket ones made, but they probably wont fit as well as the originals. I would get the Honda floor mats, they are not that expensive anyway.
Rear sensors - dont pay hundreds of dollars, you can get the same thing on eBay for ~$50-$70
Body protection - Dont get this, its just a fancy polish/wax and nothing special. You can do it yourself for like $30. Or if you want, you can get the fancy paintprotection.com.au stuff that some dealers use for like $150 and do it yourself.
FogLights - not sure really, but I wouldnt get them prefitted, rather get the original fog lights after buying the car, or get cheaper aftermarket ones from ebay. (Euro sports already has them anyway lol)
Tinting - get solartint or some other reputable brand to tint the car after buying it, unless the dealers offers you a good price

Yeah blue is freakin sweet, although I would get black :p
Yeah $35,990 driveaway can be bargained down a bit, hopefully with one or two accessories. Get some quotes and see how you go.

when you're going to buy your car and talking with the sales person, they'll often run you through all the optional accessories and the prices of them. I think you can also check out what accessories are available at www.honda.com.au
If you want to get the best deal possible my advice would be to decide what accessories youd like to be included before hand and roughly what price you are willing to pay for the car including those particular accessories. You lose bargaining power when you seem unsure.
My older sister for example bought an alfa 147 gta with 300km for 56k from an alpha dealer when they originally quoted 70k or so, and she got free tint. All because she said this is what i want to pay and i want tints etc.
Just be carefull not to low ball the dealer with a crazy price and I'm sure you'll get to where you want to be. Definitely get them to throw in the extended warranty though
Im reading on the website.
Comes with 5 yrs warranty as a special for the sport.
Also it only comes in red, blue, silver and gunmetal colours ( 4 colours )
BTW, is it too late for that special offer i saw on tv for the free rego, comp insurance etc ? ?

Get all the accessories that you want, and get the car on the road at RRP.
I'd go for the mats (fitted and are good), tints (get felt installed by the dealer's tint place as well), boot tray (good for spills) and a full tank of premium (as usual). All this for 35,990 driveaway. Max I'd go... 36,500. If you can't get it, why not go for the 06 Luxury instead? Much better value for the money (except for the rims).

Mats are the only real 'essential' as the Honda Euro mats are very darn nice and otherwise quite pricey.
Tinting is great as part of negotiation if you can bargain it down to 'street-price'. I never get the full-petrol tank as I fill up with BP ultimate and the stuff they put in doens't quite cut it.
Other accessories:
vinyl protector tray for the boot
rear parking sensors are popular but don't pay $500
exterior paint protection
sport pedals
Just make sure you realise their markup is using 200% or so and adjust your bargaining accordingly...

Euro Sport is $35,990 + 300 for the pearl paint.
Euro Lux is $40,500 + 300.
If they have a surplus of Lux manuals (lux's sold are usually autos), then you can get it for 40,800 OTR. In addition, the blue is not a very popular colour in Sydney, so you'll get that at a good price. If you want black or grey, then you might not be able to bargain it down. If they are unwilling to budge on the price of the Euro Sports, then it is about $38,300 OTR. I'd rather pay that extra $2500 for the Lux.
The extras you get in the Lux are full leather seats, powered seat adjustment, seat heaters, auto wipers, HIDs, headlight washers (which might be a downside lol), sunroof.
Oh.... and the option to pay an additional $3000 for the touch screen GPS. :D
If you want the Sports pedals, then you'll have to order it from Honda Japan, about $300 at the shops. The dealer can bring it in as well, but for $500ish.
hmmm apparently the euro sport has come to an end of production and stock.
Asked a few places and they said its all gone.
Looks like im either getting a Type S DC5 or a Lux Euro.

Each to their own but I agree with aaronng re decide exactly what you want all told and a price to match. Put this price or less to the dealer and see what they say. When I bought my Euro I asked for a price which included all on roads, dealer delivery, 5 yr warranty & roadside assist, uv window tints, paint/fabric etc protection, fog lights, rear spoiler, mats, headlight & bonnet protectors, full tank of optimax (I watched them fill it up as the petrol station is just up the road). The sales rep quoted me 7k more than I offered, but half an hour later I bought the car for not a cent more than my only offer.
Some people don't want genuine accessories, that's cool. But at the end of the day everyone buys a car to drive it away so you would be silly to negotiate a price that did not include all of the costs for you to do that to your satisfaction. I've seen people "negotiate" a price that did not include dealer delivery! Another tip for "on road" is ask for the full twelve months rego. They only ever include 6 months unless you push - $300 saved straight away.
Another tip if you aren't experienced in negotiating is to bring a friend with you. Not just your partner, but someone who has no real interest in whether you buy the car or not (no, your scamming mate with hopes of a personal taxi is not who I'm referring to). That way, once you survive the seemingly endless avalanche of "sale ends today" and "last of this colour in the country" sucker punches from the dealer your friend can help you focus on getting the deal you want. Whether it's a helpful "Hey, don't forget you want floor mats", or a subtle "Could we have a minute outside to talk" the extra support could be the deal maker or the ripoff saver. It's the dealers job to be good at negotiating, they do it all day. But a sales rep is a sales rep and if they want the deal they'll do whatever it takes.
The golden rule is don't ever be afraid to walk away, no matter how long you've been there or how close to signing up you were.

Also consider the sport is a limited run so you won't get as much bargaining power as a lux or std.
