Hi,

I am thinking to install MP3 player on my Accord Euro. Since the Honda's MP3 player is very expensive.

I don't have any IPOD player as well.

Is there any other MP3 Player that is compatible and can be integrated with Honda's Head Unit?

Thanks in advance.

No not really, you will need an iPod with an IceLink or something similar. (The Icelink plugs straight into the Honda CD Changer connector)

If you dont have an iPod, will need an SNHOND3 to enable audio input (the Honda HU has no Aux-in or anything ) so you can hook up an mp3 player / portable cd player / laptop / walkman etc..

Heres some good info: http://tsx.acurazine.com/forums/printthread.php?t=21186
Also search OzHonda for "Euro iPod" or "Euro mp3", there is heaps of info regarding this topic.

It's really a shame that honda charge so much for such an old and inexpensive technology :thumbdwn:

eurodude basically covered what you need to know - itd be the option that i'd choose, that way you get an mp3 player for in and out of the car at about half the cost of buying the inbuilt unit from honda.

Another cheaper option (if you're not too concerned about sound quality and a bit of noise) is to go with an mp3 player + fm transmitter. - not something id personally go for but might work as a temporrary solution while you're sorting out the SNHOND3

I too am considering a mp3 player....have had a look around and only option is ipod unfortunately, it's a shame though.....i have a dvd player under my seat connected to two 7 inch screens in the head rests with fm transmitter, i use the dvd player when i want to play mp3's through my system...not bad.

If we use the IPOD and connect to the HU using the Icelink ... Can we still use the 6 disc changer?

Is there any other places that sell Icelink plus cheaper than thecarkitcompany.com.au? (I'm in perth now).

Thanks

Yes you can still use the built-in 6CD changer. You press the Mode button to toggle between iPod<->Radio<->CD

You may find a cheaper one on eBay or on an online U.S. shop.

Thanks eurodude for the info.

Which US car model that has the same HU as Aust. Honda Accord Euro?

If we get the icelink will we get the IPOD docking cable as well?

Seems like Icelink Plus has been discontinued in US as shown on http://www.densionusa.com/icelink_info.htm.

Will Dice Ipod Integration works for EURO?

Cheers

Yeah Dension dont sell the IceLink anymore, another company in the US does but I cant remember the name.

The U.S. Acura TSX uses the same Head Unit (well the interface is the same at least). Basically a "Honda" IceLink will work with any recent Honda/Acura HU.

And yeah u get a docking cradle, but you need to buy a mount to mount it, or make your own mount. There are some mounts available, search OzHonda for "IceLink mount".

Not sure about the DICE unit...

Yeah i have found 2 dension ice models for Honda: i-Honda-R2 and i-Honda-R3

Since the Euro have the same unit as Acura TSX so it part number would be i-Honda-R3 according to http://support.diceelectronics.com/files/honda_install.pdf

Now it's time for me to browse the US online shops or Ebay for the cheapest one :)

Yeah i am not sure whether the Dice ipod integration unit is the later version of icelink Plus or it's still the same one.

NB: probably for now i will just use the docking cable and store it in the storage Tray :)
