View Full Version : Does water damage an engine when its out of the engine bay?
Just wondering if water damages the engine when its not in the engine bay. I'v com across a few pics of k24a2 engines on i-vtec.com and the engine looks like its been hosed down with water.

As long as you don't plan on starting it while the filter is wet. Also don't hose it down with cold water while the block is still hot.

If you mean the engine is wet then yes, can be a problem. Water can channel its way into the spark valley (ie not good!). Another problem is water finding its way into the block/head - open coolant-hose connectors can have water flow in them, causing rust if out for a while.
Its reccomended that when swapping any engine that has been left out for a while or wet to at least be opened and checked. All parts that are not part of the long-block (ie head & block) should be replaced eg. sparks, waterpump, dizzy, as well as seals and gaskets.
Do this and you shouldnt have many other probs.
