Speedo @ Zero

as most of u know... a mate of mine is doing a conversion on EK with a b16a2... and its almost completed..

but somehow the speedo is staying at zero.. but all the other things work .. like fuel ... rev... all that... any idea?? and vtec also doesnt engage as well...

is it plugged in.. check the conneciton to the sensor first..

then ECU then VSS

it should also throw a VSS service light.

If it is plugged in,check u got 12V(ign on) across the black & black/yellow?(your black/yellow might be diff colour but the black should be the same).

The 3rd wire check if its continuous back to the speedo & ecu

And yes no VTEC till VSS input above 30kph

Fairly sure they are all 12v,I know my B18c is & the B16a1 is.

B18c- 0V>10V>0V>10V......
B16a1- 0V>5V>0V>5V.........

another thing start the car drives noraml after 5 min engine ligth came on ... turn off the car... then strat again ... no engine light then drive for a bit more comes on again ...

its driving me nuts

ok ... problem fixed.... there was some coolant in the sensor plug... dunno how it got there...

speedo is workign no enigne light...

but idle is high aorund 1.3k and no vtec...

and hints?

uhm, you'd have to connect a gauge up somewhere.

has the dude reset his ecu and done a cold start, where it reaches operating temperature, and then driven? (cooling fan comes on twice).

yea has been reset... idle for like 10min then test again .. still the same... but i guess can try again

engien light is off and speedo .. but its throw out code 20 and 17

17=vss....

how did u get the speedo working?

I assume you hooked up the wire from vss to speedo?

Check this same wire goes back to ecu as well,
C18-OBD2A
C23-OBD2B

Ignore code 20,unless u do have an elec load detector(found in the main fuse box,underhood),if so hook it up,will help smooth out your idle when switching on big elec loads such as headlights,etc

speedo at zero? dry do u have plastic covering over ur sensors? if not then it could be wet and needs to be dried

the speedo isssue has been fixed.. there were coolant in it...

and atm its running on JDM ITR ecu ...

ok .. last nite the car was throwing out code 17 and 20

17 being the VSS and 20 Electrical load detector

i just reset teh ecu ... and now 17 is gone...

but still giving me a code 20....

and help?

that "noise" sounds like its coming from the drivers side...not the passenger side (where the alternator is). Car is starting normally ? (not weak ) and the interior lights etc are not dimming ?!

nope ... all lights and electric stuff seems to work fine
