Hey Guys,
I have a Honda Integra Type R dc2r with the following mods,
Pro CAI setup
Headers 4-1
high flow cat
2.75 inch exhuast
after market cam
heavy duty valves

ATM the car is pulling decent power as WRXS and 200sx's in close to standard form are no challenge down the track against the DC2R.
Im looking for that extra power and am no fan of turbo setup in a vtec and also supercharger in a 4cyl i dont like that idea, im thinking bolt on a nitrous system, whats your thoughts guys??
What money am i looking at spending to do this mod and also where do i go to get this all done and what sorta problems will i face by doing this.

Cheers

aafter market cams and all those mods would highly recommend you get a aftermarket ecu to get it tuned to full potential.

Are you looking towards circuit or drag track.

Both are set up differently.

yeah def ecu next.
really it depends what you want to do with that extra power. if its just for the drag strip then nitrous would be an ok choice, provided you also tuned the car for it. but if you want the power always on tap then perhaps you could go down the path of a bottom end built and some headwork to compliment what you already have there. thats if you dont want to go FI.
but yeah, get an ecu first and see how it goes. its suprising what tuning will do

If you have a question relating to the cost and application of Nitrous, this belongs in the Forced Inducted forum.

Adding nitrous isnt "force induction"....its Naturally applied to the inetl manifold or intake arm of your engine. IE the engine sucks it thru like normal air.

Unless you are going to tear your motor down to recondition after you do about 10 races I wouldn't touch it. If you are going to do it anyways I would at least get the valves, the cylinder domes, the piston tops, and piston skirts coated so the heat doesn't melt your stuff. Then you can run it a little safer. Also the ECU and other upgrades wouldn't hurt. You need to be able to tune the car and get it perfect or you'll be buying a new motor!

Also NOS is considered a bolt-on, not F.I. or N.A., but then I don't consider it a bolt-on as there is a lot more to do then bolt it on and go. I used to sell these kits as a cash sale with no warranty. I tried to talk them in to a properly built motor but noooo they needed it on for Friday and Saturday night cruises! Then a week later the kids would be back in buying a new motor and built right.

sounds like a good business plan....

Nitrous is kinda like banging a hot chick with STD's, you know you wanna hit it, but your just afraid of the consequences.

thats my 2 cents

Nitrous is safe as long as you think reasonably. As long as you keep the shot within reasonable limits, plumb it for a wet setup, have proper engine management to increase the fuel injected to ensure that the A/F ratio is on the side of rich, then you won't have overly high temperatures in combustion chamber.

i have 100hp shot of nos running in my dc2... vtir tuned it ... didn't have to change fuel pump, injectors or ecu nothing at all...

went and brought a generic NOS setup for a 4 cylinder and set it up with the right fuel shot to support the 100hp shot of nitrious... did a fuel pressure test and it stayed on 40psi .. didn't budge at all when hitting the switch...

my setup is a wet setup as well... runs fine .. haven't had a problem with it gives me a 150.3kws at the front wheels and i haven't had a problem with anything ... nos is safe if it's setup right... and trust me when i say "honda's love the nos" anyone who has seen my car on the dyno at autosalon will confirm...

the only thing that was ripped was a few rex's :P hehehe .... rex's with just small mods like exhaust and a pod ... makes the teg look fast hehehe :P
