hey, im looking to buy an exhaust for my 4th gen vtir and dont no whether to go a 2.25 or 2.5 inch exhaust, what would you guys suggest as i am looking for power increase and a good sound note, and also anyone got any ideas of a good place to get an exhaust done in Melbourne for a good price.

thanks

both size are good.. will give u a biot of gain, just dont get anythin bigger than 3"(IMO)
if u want a coustom catback made up, u can give Mr.Muffler a try got a qoute of $350 for my teg

2.25 is the optimal size for ur vtir:D

yeah but it depends on your extent of modding to ur car mate.
when i did my exhaust (2.5" cruch bent) it actually felt laggy and lost power through mid rev range.after tuning it has got a huge improvment. so really depends on your plans for me to give u a good guestimation on what u need.
i rekn just exhaust 2.25" crush bent(EDIT)
exhaust and intake might be 2.25" mandrel bent (maybe even headers)
2.5" crush bent for exhaust intake and tune
2.5" mandrel for anything more

once u start internals and going real serious u can go up to about 3"

i personally opted for a 2.5" crush bent, but will eventually do a serious build, (hence why ive gone hondata s300 as management) then i will opt for a very straight 3" exhaust

Wouldn't a 2.5" crush bent be the equivalent of a 2.25" mandrel bent?

I've got a 2.25" catback installed in my Lude, but yet to get it tuned or an air intake... I have lost very little low end power and my mid power has increased.

depends mate,
crush bent changes its volumetric efficiency at the bends (i think that would be the right wording), when a crush bent exhaust is fabricated at every bend theres a change in cross sectional area where as madrel does not change at all. using flowrate=velocity x area if ur on the limit of the allowed flowrate without causing losses in power u will creat a turbulance in the airflow at a bend, thus some sort of loss will be developed.

Yeah like i said 2.25" wont create any loss as its very much the same as stock. maybe a lil top end gain was developed from a less restrictive cat/resonator/muffler package

sorry my bad!!!!!
that shoulda been 2.25" crush bent as my first statement.
EDITED!!!
iklet yeah ur pretty much on the ball, 2.25"mandrel will be pretty close to a 2.5" crush, slight difference will be the 2.5" crush is a lil more "open" i suppose

lightly modified car 2.25 is enough.

2.5" for more modified h22

if ur gonna just get intake, then get 2.25

if u have intake, header, hi flow cat, and maybe a vafc tuned, get 2.4-2.5 mandrel bent

hey wat about without header only but with the rest?

i'd go no bigger than 2 3/8 inch pipe

when i had intake and cat back (2.38 inch mandrel) i could only feel the gains really high up

adding the header and cat made a massive difference to my entire rev range

but i heard from peeps that if u have 4-1 its best u have 2.5 if its a 4-2-1 den its a 2.38

Well i have already got an intake and have been told not to get rid of the JDM headers unless i wana spend big, so i would probably prefer to go the 2.5" as from what i believe would sound better but have no idea, would the 2.25" still bring a decent note?
would you recomend a highflow cat and should i go bigger before the cat?

i got 2.25" mandrel bent on mine....its fine for me... pull against my mates h22a accord with 2.5" mandrel bent. Very similar in performance. 2.25" with basic mods gives u a very good response bottom end and also the extra pull in top end. Whereas 2.5" is for topend and you lose abit of power bottom end.

2.25" for a stock 'lude mate. I think really, if your gonna go any larger your going to need a little more power or tuning to make it worthwhile.

2.25 and no bigger unless your going F.I

preludacris

i disagree with that.

2.25 would be too small even with just i/h/e and tune. with that set up u'd want 2.38

after internals prolly bigger also .

and ill agree with that!

marcus

hmm...i m also interested to know if 2.38 is availiable

yeah man

pretty popular size for aftermarket exhaust.

its like 60.5 mm

so would it be smart to keep the stock headers for just basic mods?

CUL8R

the stock headers are great, but there will always be benifits from aftermarket.
