View Full Version : New Engine or Timing belt?????? help?

hey guys well my car is a 1995 gli civic sedan it has about 320, 000 kms on it :o =last timing belt change was at 200 k's about 3 yrs ago, but it drives well still however can hear noises. been quoted on full sevice at charlies for $600 however im thinking is it worth it for my engine? sohc 1.5 litre? 300 + k;s? wat you guys rekon? im new to the honda scene and dont knwo how much engines go for either ........

wah.. if you planning to keep the car, i reckon, do a transplant.

Yep, depending on your finanical position and what you decide with your car, as destrukshn said, if your planning on keeping the car for sometime (lets say at least 2 years or more) and the engine sounds like its gonna let go, do an engine transplant, might use a little more petrol and cost of insurance is gonna go up a little but in the end you get (depending on the engine you drop in) a healthier engine with more performance with added VTEC yO!

But if your not planning on keeping it, then start looking for a new one, for a 95' Civic, thats a hell lot of k's on it.

ahkk thanks, yeh well i plan to make it a project but u neva know how long u keep a car too hard to plan it, i just want something simple like a vti or sumfin then maybe turbo it later on, but unsure at wat i should look at paying for engines.

u just got the engine? got other parts? after lowred springs and shocks? stock rear bar?

thanks for the info dread angel, im am interested in jus putting in a doch vtec ? or rebuilding wat i got now and putting on a d series turbo but im unfamiliar with the honda stuff jus yet.....

not really enough to do either atm, but it's up to you where you wanna go anyways. we have given you some options, now it's up to you to research and find out what you want.
