Ive purchased a EG5 today with a d16y vtec.
Ive been driving a GSi teg for a year now, i will be putting most of my parts that fit from my integra to the civic.
But as far as making more power out of this little vtec motor with a turbo (t3/4) what is the reliability like???
Has many ppl done it and what issues they have??
Or would i be better of dumping a B18c or B16a in it??
Does the d16y gear box bolt up to a B series???

congrats on the purchase
reliability all comes down to how you build your turbo setup and how you tuned and maintain it.
Alot of ppl in the states boost their D Series.. go to www.turbod16.com, or www.d-series.org for more info.
Droping in a B series depends on your budget and whether you want to stay NA or go the boost.
And a D16 gearbox wont fit a B series.

first question
turboing a SOHC VTEC ask Weq on the forums he's the man the talk to..
as for the D serise G box bolting up No! it's not possible
and i recon turboing a B serise is more fun then D serise

if you low on cash then turbo charge the D.
youll be so much faster than a civic with a b series in it

i got a B series turbo kit for a civic at the moment so if turbo the D ill have to buy a new manifold, so i might just wait till i find a descently priced B18c or buy a B16a, the B18c will surely make more power but it cost over 2x as much.

Im pretty sure a D series gearbox is compatible with a b series motor...
My mate was using a his CXi gearbox with his transplanted b18c7.
Can someone confirm?

Hey would bolting a 60mm throttle body to the manifold and a SRI make much difference, as ive got a spare 1 lying around from a teg.

congrats on purchase man...so which car do u rekon feels better integra or the vic ?
No point in a bigger TB.
Will cause a slight lag in reposnse.
Only need TB if internals have been done and require more air flow.

Haha too early to tell, as ive only driven the civic from dealer to my house and didnt realy give it to it.
I handles a lot better than the teg.
Ill go put some ultimate 98 tonight and drive it and ill c what the difference is then.
