Any decent car air con place should be able to help you out. It's nothing different to the gas used in any other car.

if there's not enough pressure..the compressor won't engage..if there's too much pressure it won't engage..it's a safety mechanism.

just get some place to reduce the pressure to the correct level.

Yap, no air cond.
What happen was, the guy said the type of gas that use in this car is not available any more. Aust has change to a different type which is not suitable fot the civic.

It should still be available anyway.

Japan still uses the old gas, and every single jap import (ie not built for foreign market) needs the old stuff too.

Your aircon guy is probably just lazy and doesnt want to source it (or has never used it so is afraid he will stuff it up?).

Apparently there is a direct replacement gas available, ring around & ask.

You can also change to the new gas by replacing the oil in the compressor & flushing the A/C system or something along those lines.

you can retrofit your AC system to have the R134a Gas,

if your having pressure problems, you might have a problem with the TX valve or another component of the AC system

any decent AC place will be able to diagnose it for you

Exactly right. It is easy for a specialist to retrofit it. Obviously where you went the guy wasn't all that experienced... If he cant do this he would be missing alot of business!

You shouldn't just need a refill unless something is wrong. Take it to a specialist an have it checked over and re-gassed.

Could be a blockage in the system somewhere. Unfortunately theres not much of this system you can DIY without the appropriate tools. Take it to a different place to where you went last. They should be able to recover, check all the components and flush the system, evacuate, charge, and do tests to ensure pressures/temperatures are right and that there are no leaks/blockages in the system anywhere. Your A/C system will be like new.
