well i got my new euro a couple of weeks ago, took it in today for its 1000km service and i have had to come home in a jazz.
they found a massive oil leak between the engine and gearbox. apparently its a gearbox, possibly engine out job.
now i know these things happen sometimes but im still a bit pissed that its a new car and has such a big problem, even the service guy said there seems to be something else thats seroiusly wrong which he cant find yet!
anyway ill be posting what happens in the next couple of days

 thats a bit of bad luck. At least you got a Jazz, I got a nasty Lancer ES (2nd worst car ive ever driven lol)
maybe they ran out of sealant and used wasabi instead :p
Given that the car is that new, aren't you entitled to ask for a replacement?

sorry to hear that. you might be able to get a new replacement (instead of them fixing the car).

not a good start for a brand new car

FFFFAAAAARRRRKKKK!
For starters – Did you feel something wrong with it before you dropped it off!
!) I’ll be pushing for a same or better than what you just dropped off. NO JAZZ!
2) If it’s not fixed by the end of the week I want a new car ASAP.
And do pre delivery check before picking up.
3) At worst get next 2 – 5 services done free with them picking up the car and leaving you
with another one so it’s not done in your time.
I really fell for ya.

nothing seemed to be wrong, i know a decent amount about cars and i didnt even notice any oil leaking. i only took the jazz coz i was late for work, they were actually trying to find me another accord to take so i was happy with the way the service department handled it....
they said it should be done by tomorrow arvo, they had someone working on it tonight (late night)...
im a bit unsure as to how things are going to go now, as in they are pulling appart a new car which shouldnt need to be, and that other things might go wrong if they make a mistake.... so for the moment im going to wait and see if all is right and letting them know that ill be expecting a replacement if anything else like this happens...
well i guess i can be the test dummy for major problems and how honda handles it for you guys

can you tell if its engine or gearbox oil?
either is pretty bad if its leaking there!! sounds like a bearing, most likely a manufacturing fault that they cant tell if its defective till it breaks.

Honda F1 cars aren't that reliable either. AND they have oil leaks...
Can anyone see a correlation? :(

Because F1 engines are designed to last 2 races, and car engines are designed to last 10,000 races to work :p

Damn, that's bad bro... I feel for you... the bad thing about new cars is that when you get it, the expectation is always that they should be in 100% top-notch condition, but unfortunately, this is not always the case!!
Shyte happens bro...just wait it out...they will fix it or give you a replacement so at the end of the day - you won't lose out...just plain bad luck!! Good luck bro!

so i got a call from honda today, the leak was coming from a plug which is in place if the engine is ever reconditioned, u need access to that part of the engine....anyway they have fixed that problem but
he said there is a part which they didnt realise they needed until they starting putting it all back together, so they have ordered the part and it wont arrive until next week sometime, so im stuck in the jazz :|
im not too sure how they didnt realise they needed the part until they were putting it back together, where the leak was it didnt need any replacement parts, just to be sealed again so im guessing they may have broke something???
just thought id give an update

Tell them you want this incident noted on your warranty so that any future fault can be traced back and not put the blame on you. Keep your warranty repair receipt in a safe as well.

I would even take photos of the leakage etc so that if something happens we got all the proof you ever need to come back at them!

yeah i have it noted on my service sheet so if anything does come up its noted, as for a pic i didnt really get a chance or think of that at the time.
after i posted that last post yesterday arvo i got a call from the dealer, he said my car was ready to be picked up, i was a bit confused as they said not till next week so i asked and he said he "found" the part that was needed on another new accord!!!
i dont know about you guys but this seems a bit strange to me? i wouldnt expect them to be replacing something off another car, which is brand new in the dealership, and then have to replace that one!
anyway i have got my car back and all seems to be going ok, i will be checking under the bonnet a bit more often in the coming weeks to make sure no more oil is leaking.
thanks for all the imput guys :D

Have you seen the car in the workshop?
Or is this all based on the service advisor telling you about the issue?
I've heard of dealerships smashing cars or damaging them and buying time by bullshitting you. Person i heard it from got a brand new car out off it and free servicing for 3 years (not a honda)

with dealerships...seriously, you really gotta put the foot down...unfortunately, the salemen do not get paid enough and they basically rely on commision heaps...
After they sell a car to you, you've become a statistic...you really got crack the shytes and say 'hey, wait a minute here...' ...so yeah, good luck bro, I now how frustrating it can get!

In Australia, it's almost impossible to get a replacement car even if your brand new car happens to be a lemon. All they are obliged to do by law is repair it. They really need to bring in the lemon law like they did in the US.
I certainly wouldn't want to pay for a freaking brand new car and then go through all the inconvinience and drive away in a car that's had a major repair done to it.

Just referring back to your earlier reply..
What do they mean the plug that is in place if the engine is ever reconditioned? If the car is new what happens?
Anyway after your car is fixed and your latest reply, I'm not surprised that they pulled a new part off another new euro accord to replace your part. I've heard that happening a lot of times.
I just sincerely hope they remember to pull that new part back on that other Euro lol... or it'll be having its oil leak too.. :(
I think very luckily, my car has been running quite well. Oil leaks aren't a major worry anyway, hope everything else is running ok!! :D

he said that there is a plug that is in place for if anyone ever did an engine rebuild it gives access to that part of the engine for cleaning, or inspecting or something like that, i wasnt listening too much i wasnt a happy man at that point
as for being a lemon, i bloody hope not!!! time will tell on that, but i doubt it will be, or im hoping it wont be haha
and as for the jazz........ i dont think it would have hit that little red line in the tacho so many times in its life haha
