Im thinking about getting a bigger throttle body for my d16y4. Im looking at either the integy type-r or the S2000 throttle body. Would these two bodies be a straight fit to my manifold, or would i have to get some mounts made up for them? Please help!!!

I don't think they will fit.

I hear a TB bore is fairly affective or even a polish up might help... i dunno maybe look into it though.

What other stuff have you done to the engine so far?

Get a TB off an XF Falcon :) They are something like 68 or 72mm wide :) This will cost you less too :D

Well obviously it wouldn't be a direct bolt on, but there are plates that you can buy for them. Dont ask where though I have no idea lol.. Apparently somebody on here also has one?!?!??

I know its a common replacement to some of these little cars because the TB on them is smaller than those. So basically you can use either an XF, EA or EB (Series I) TB

BTW I stand corrected, the TB on an XF is 65.. I'll go measure mine some day to check if thats true for the EA's too (which I think it is)

I wouldnt bother ... why ?
I cant see how or why it would be effective without having an aftermarket tuning device.
I had some car shop push real hard to get me to buy an american branded TB which promised all these fancy gains. Sales pitch bro. Dont you get bitten by that bug.

Same deal with prelude injectors for the civic. Useless without them tuned.

I guess everything on a car will give performance gains, if tuned accordingly. Even a CAI could probably do something if tuned etc. As Civic Type R said, this would need to be done. No point in bolting on a turbo and not tuning it, waste of time really...

Thus my original question.......... "What has been done to the engine?"

*sigh*

may i ask how would a bigger throttle body affect performance?wats the advantage of having one?

No advantage by itself - it's a waste of time without going to bigger cams. Adding a bigger TB to exhaust and CAI modswont make a difference either.

You have to remember that it doesn't matter how much air is going through the TB, if the cam's lift and duration is not pulling more air/fuel mix into the motor then it will make no more power.

the most you should really do if you dont have cams is get the throttle polished up gets a nicer flow... apparently it gives a couple of ponnies but nothing major.

"A couple of ponies"? I'd like to see the dyno proof of that. It may enhance flow, but I wincerely doubt that you will see anything at the flywheel, let alone at the wheels.

Meh just going on a friends dyno experince... I'm pretty sure he only had mugan intake pod, mugan extractors cat back and TB bore/pollish. He said he got like 5 kwts out of it. But he might have had CTR cams. although I cant really remember it was like a year ago i spoke to him about it.

I'll PM him and see what he says.

LOL - 5KW @ the wheels??? that's more than a few hp. Polishing the TB will NOT give him extra power - the other mods might.

I've seen a VW Beetle with stock motor dyno @ 100KW @ RW - all that tells you is that dynos can be made to lie.

CTR cams will give you a lot more than 5KW by the way.

Did I mention that polishing the TB is not going to give you either a couple of ponys or 5KW. It's as effective as adding a "Type R" sticker to a CXi. Better get you facts straight, was it a bore or a polish or both? Theres a difference between the two and you advised just a polish earlier on. Just as a matter of interest, what did the TB flow after the said bore/polish?

I call bullshit.

Bore up TB doesn't always mean a good thing...depends the job they've done...just bore up about 2-3mm will be good enough...if you bore up too much, the flap won't close up properly and you'll end you to get another new TB...get an after market ones is better...

you much always consider alot of factor before doing some mods on your cars...have some survey what bore up on your TB will do...

more air means what?...if that much of air enters your engine..and doesn't have the perfect mixture with fuel and full combustion, i think you will be freaking dissapoint with the result and end up thinking...wtf...waste those money for nothing?...haha...

just an advice dude..you don't have to take it as yours...

but if you really keen to do some good mods...i reckon getting the Spoon ones...hahaha...
