they are not the same , however you can interchange them ,i think the final drive is different , correct me if i'm wrong

the gsi box has the one of the longest gear ratios in the honda line up....vtir is shorter.

gear ratios here:
gsi is badged as LS in US
vtir is the badged as GSR
