I currently have a panel filter in my 5g lude, but would like to get a pod filter instead.
I have heard many arguments for both sides but still undecided.
I know short air will give better response / hot air
cold air will give slower response / cold air
I do alot of everyday driving as well as vtec every now and then.

I have thought of a combination of the two. ie. a short ram air intake with pod, as well as running a pipe/tube from the spoiler up to the air intake as a cold air source. Maybe even a shroud built around the inlet to the pod? Will this set up give me the best of both worlds?
btw. sorry if my explanation is confusing.

yeah man, thats a good idea do it.. the SRi will give the better throttle response, and having the cold air feeder will also help the pod get some cold air in aswell.

also a heat shield for the pod to block the heat from the engine bay

^^^^ disagree

i believe CAI (cold air intake) will give you beter response such as the Mugen design...

SRI (short ram intake) will give you better top end response....

in my opinion daily driving CAI would be better and more useable...

hrm.... i had always thought that the SRI would have better throttle response since the piping is shorterand less bends compared to a CAI, therefore shorter path of air to get into the engine, hence better response.... but yeah SRI do give better top end gains..but i still believe the SRI will give better response..

get heat shielded intake piping

thanks for the replies so far, so cai is better for a daily driver?
what about my suggestion? would that work?

i too always thought that SRI had more throttle response being a shorter intake

as the CAI has a longer path to go through..

but what is better, is a SRI with cold air feed (ala mugen/comptech)..

custom cai filter pod is the best :)
