I'm lookin at buying a CRX that has a Zc in it. Just curious about availability and cost of parts should anything go wrong. Will most D series parts fit generally?

As long as u dont blow your pistons or ecu, there are plenty of D16A8 parts around to fix the rest of a ZC.
ZC=D16A8 apart from these 2 things.
I got a whole D16 in my garage collecting dust & i know of another gettin pulled out soon.
ZC arse dyno= D16A8 arse dyno as well btw.

its a old engine with a range of second hand parts avalible for it.
Most "D SERIES" parts will fit it. IE spark plugs etc.

When looking for LOCAL parts for it - quote a "d16a8" (as this is the exact same)

sweet, as long as im not buying something that will need all imported genuine parts. that would just be a pain in the arse. thanks guys

you can use both D16A8 pistons and ECU for a ZC so thats not even an issue, as long as the ECU is the same OBD version to match the engine. with the pistons the only difference is slight doming with the ZC pistons which gives 0.1:1 higher CR but they are still interchangeable.

Didnt mean it was an issue, just a prob for anyone adamant about keeping the ZC specs.

For standard ZC maintenance, parts aren't a problem, it's when you start looking for upgrades....suppliers can be a little thin when you compare against a platform like the B-series.

if you're willing to get parts that you can't find, here in aus, from the states then you have no worries at all. if you do then it COULD be a problem.

has anyone built a highly tuned carbed ZC motor from OH let alone australia?

"highly tuned" and "carbed" dont really fit in the same sentence...its a mechanical adjustment that is "tuning" a carb anyway lol.

BTW d16a8/zc's are big 15 years ago.

'highly tuned' and 'carbed' and 'ZC' don't fit in thesame sentence. ZCs are Efi not carburated.

With work spent on a ZC to increase compression, pistons, head, cams, ecu - Ive been told power figures of 150WHP are possible.

correcto , altho the "faster" ZC's and D series in general ive seen built up are carb'd :) Its a shame tho they dont last too long.

In the US maybe but not here. US got SOHC ZCs (according to the US imports) as per JDM imports all ZCs were dohc efi.

correcto  interesting how they have SOHC ZC's..

you could simply turbo the ZC and gain power like that. but like ben was saying, they don't seem to last long :(

read that there were JDM ZC SOHC, how bizzare!
