Hi guys/gals need your opinions........
When changing the timing belt would it be best to do the cam seals at the same time even if they are not leaking??
My guess is yes.
Not sure with the B16 but having a look at it, for about 5 secs not sure if the valve cover needs to come off to do it or not. If so might as well get a new valve cover gasket too yer?
Anything I'm forgeting??

Hi,
if it aint leaking leave them alone, I always check the cam and crank seals for leaks and only change them when they are leaking. aslo it pays to rotate the water pump and tentioner pulley to check for failure. You dont need to change the roccer cover gasket unless its thrashed. I put a small dab of Ultra Grey on each end of the arches ( cam arches ) and reuse it. always warm your engine up and plug in the short connector and set the timming when your done.

Yeh exactly what ECU-MAN said, I got my dad to do mine before the new engine went into the car, he did the seals aswell but didn't put a new gasket on, he just topped up a few spots with selastic. I'm not sure how much the seals were, but if you got it all off, then why not just replace them so you don't have to do it too soon down the track?

Yeah I'm just concerned that they might look ok still then 10,000 down the track start to leak and there goes my freakin' belt.

they only cost about $15 or $20, what year was your car built. eg if its a 98 the they will be fine if its a 92 just do em.
also never use salastic or silcone for the roccercover or any other engine gasket, only use oxygen safe type sealants

Yeah I ended up getting them......... $14 odd each. Its a 97 car.

carefull when you remove your old seals NEVER let anything touch the cam or the crank while removing them as you could scratch the surface causing the new seal to leak, also lube your new seals with oil b4 u put them in . dont put any sealant on them
