hey guyz and gurls i jus needed to ask some questions. would really appreciate ya help.
I drive a dc2 vtir and i've heard all these things about dc2 and deep dish and i was wondering if deep dish actually fit perfect on a dc 2.
Also, does it affect the performance and driveability of the car with the deep dish??
Does my offset allow for the fitting to be perfect.
The deep dish on the rims i want to buy is about 2 inches worth of dish.
jus needed to clear up these concerns before buying the rims

i wanted to buy these rims:

hey mate,

'traditional' deep dish has the face of the wheel sitting very 'inside' the rim with a very low offset (see AE86 drift rims for exmapl). however how cars, and as with most other FWD cars, offset is usualyl quite high and hence to get deep dish, the face of the wheel will be close to the 'outside' of the rim, while the spokes will be bent in, so to speak. So it also dpends on the design of the rim. We don't have much room to move about in terms of 'offset' natured dish.

just make sure the offset is right for you car and it will fit.
I believe it should be +40 to +43.

If the wheels are made in those offset then it will fit cos they would have taken the design into consideration for the offset.

icic..and would the driveability or perfomance of the car be affected by the deep dish or is it just like any other rim??
thanx in advance

hey,
i'm still thinking about whether to get those rims. While they look awesome i also value the performance and handling of the car.
So my question is...how much does the 17inch deep dish affect the launch, acceleration and so forth. I have read in another thread that if an ek went from 15s to 17s there would be significant difference. And that got me concerned, coz i don't want to sacrifice toooo much of my acceleration and handling wen i put the 17s on. I realise that there would be an affect but i was wondering..
how big an affect do the 17s have on a dc2 vtir. There must be people who have 17s on their dc2s..please help!..cheers
Thanx in advance!!!
regards justin

having DEEP DEEP dish rims can put stress on the bolts but i've never seen or heard of any snapping off...

Hey mate, less worry!

Well you can always opt for lightweight racing-ish 17s, not the heavy stuff you buy down at your local everyday tyre shop. I am skeptical as to whether ozzy tyres sell lightweight (read japanese quality and weighted) wheels. that way, you can maintain your performance, possibly better handling (because of the lower profile tyre)

also, don't worry about the deep dish issue. It is just the design of the wheel. Deep dish is ONLY a concern if you get a low offset wheel (which will probs stick past ur guards), which places more weight on the outer axis of the hub, unlike stock/properly matched rims which have a centered balance of weight (if u know what i mean).

ive had 17s on two integras, my old VTi-R were Concept 9's (spokes) and my current integra has gestaults (was on the car when i bought it)

although my current car is a GSi, when i put the rims on my old VTi-R i didnt notice a huge difference in handling or acceleration, sure if you took it to wakie you would probably be a few seconds off, but in normal day driving you would barely notice a difference, in my experiences, and it also depends on what tyres you are using also ;)

its just like any other rim thats all. just a diff design :)

The only thing that might effect it slightly is the weight of the rim

i know this is an old thread but im looking at doing the same thing...

iv always wanted Rays G-Games 77w Vaio
http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rayswheels.co.nz/blow_up_images/77wvaio.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.rayswheels.co.nz/wheels/ggames_77wvaio.htm&h=500&w=550&sz=61&hl=en&start=1&tbnid=VPhNvqORiS4w-M:&tbnh=121&tbnw=133&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgold%2B77w%2Bvaio%26gbv%3D2%26svnum%3 D10%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26channel%3Ds%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DG

but i am now considering the gold rs-gt as a cheaper alternative

has anyone got a price on these?

did u eventually get them juzz?

what would be the price/value/peformance difference be between the rs-gt and the 77w vaio?

help on this would be MUCH apreciated =/

hi,
yea i ended up going for the lighter weight P1 Buddyclubs becuase the tyre/rim deal i got was good. At the time i remember i was quoted 1500 for a tyre/rim package with ozzytyres but with P1s i was quoted only 2100 for the tyre/rim package..So i figured, i would go for the better build quality of the genuine jap brand..That's how i decided, because i was willing to spend an extra 600 to get a better quality package.
A lighter weight wheel definitely felt better with launch and acceleration however,i could not compare with the rs-gts, but i presume they are heavier.

hope that helps..btw, the rays rims are nice man!

is it worth the extra tho.... =(

hard decisions, would the rsgt's be lighter than the fat fives?

as long as it is a step up i spose...

hrm any opinions or input or experience here is very welcome =)

so basically, anything lower than 35 will stick out too much = no good = scrubbing on outer guards.

hope that helps la hehe
