Hey all,

currently had my GSi for about two years and whilst she has been solid as a rock, i wouldnt mind something a bit more fun.

If I was to upgrade I would think DC2R at least but not sure if maybe I should spend the extra5-10G's and turbo my beast. The GSi is no VTir or type R but it does like to rev and that combined with turbs would be good im sure. The other point is I dont want the thing to fall apart and I dont want to sell up within 6 months of the upgrade as I have seen done on these forums..

Any advice or opinions?? I also want to put some new seats in her like recaros or the SSCUS ones from ink performance...

AHHH Decisions decisions!!!!!!!

If your gonna keep the car for a while then turbo....Also if its all about straight line speed turbo....if its about cornering and handle. sell or upgrade cornering handling

yeah If I upgrade I would like to keep it for a while, and upgrade suspension for better cornering ability. Its not all about straight line but some significant improvement would be great, maybe 140-150 kw atw. With the Integras light weight this would be real quick and still handle well..

But more the point it still needs to be a reliable daily driver..

If you like to have a sniff on the streets and get respect than why not.

I strongly suggest definite upgrades to suspension if you want to keep this handling decently if its turbo charged.

No turbo, you will always get more problems and likely to break more things, traction on your car will be poor too, also when it comes to sell your car it becomes an absolute nightmare as most ppl don’t like aftermarket turobed cars, there are too many examples on this forum and other places.

Nicely put mate.. I'd definately keep the GSi badges and give a rexy or two a run for their money.. all within the rules of the road of course

I do worry about axle tramp tho, gets bad even now when I launch it hard..

I appreciate your honesty mate.. Ill consider all the options and I have thought about that point a lot. Thats why I would have to keep the car for at least a couple more years if I was to go turbo.. May not be worth it

may be better to jump into an R or WRX, not sure that I want to leave the Honda Family tho..

Do whatever pleases yourself.

1st question u need to ask yourself and answer b4 doin anything else is "How long am I going to keep this car?"

People have stated most of the pros and cons for turboing ur teg.
Realistically, its smarter to jst upgrade to a better car, as it is easier to sell a near stock car, and u wont lose as much money.

However, in sayin that, if a turbo teg is wat u want, then do it. Regardless of money, it will make you happy, so no regrets.

I can vouch, from 1st hand experience, that driving a turbo gsi is a lot of fun, and isnt as bad/scary as it is made out to be by a lot of ppl.

i would say upgrade. A dc2R will be a nice upgrade if you decdie to get one. Overall a dc2r will shit all over dc4, handling, power and etc.

Nothing beats a stock car.

I dunno why you're comparing a DC2R to a stock DC4 Jimmy, lol, the guy either wants to upgrade or turbo his GSi.
So the most appropriate comparison he should be looking at is a turbo GSi vs "X" (X being the car that he would like to upgrade to). :p

Yes qball, but nothing beats a stock car!...

You can't really compare turbo against n/a cause its cheating :P.

IF it ain't turbo right then say bye bye to motor.

Thats funny LOL
If nothing beats a stock car, why are so many ppl obsessing about modifying them? ;)

Thanks for your thoughts guys. Qball have you driven a dc2R just as a comparison. I know your car is heavily modified but a comparison between the two would be unique for sure..

i was thinking of turboing my gsi too, but decided to just keep it as it is lol, its too much effort for me, also involves lots of $$, so im just going to upgrade it nd get any honda with vtec, preferably a prelude =) .anyways goodluck dude:thumbsup:

go for dc2r

heavily modifying ur car unfortunately means that u are goin to loose.. if ur prepared for that and u got cash to burn then modify.. every one knows wat a type r is like.. go for somethin unique..

having said that.. the upgrade would be a wiser option.. but if i had the money id have a project car (not necessarily the same as urs) ..

goodluck wit ur decision

why dont you fit the type R parts you like, like the seats and trim to you GSi Given it basically the "same" car , then fit better suspension and brakes and turbo it, to make a GSi-R

Driving a turbo teg and a dc2r, both are fun cars to drive, but the power difference is phenominal.
Everyone that ive taken for a lil drive in my teg when it was on the road has been rapped about the power and the way the car pulls.
Both are good as daily drivers, both are jst as fun as one another.
Its simple, dc2r for corners, dc4t for straights.
Like i said it all comes down to what your preferences are.

I like all these ideas guys, all sound very good

mmmm GSI-R, I like the sound of that.. maybe even GSI-R-T....lol

Anyway im thinking for now ill get some seats like the SSCUS E8's that Ink Performance are selling and colour code the mouldings for a start. From there i can make a decision.. Dont want to do anything engine wise unless i know for sure what im doing with the car.

Anyone had the E8's or any other SSCUS seats in their ride and rate them at all????

Can i also ask that if u do have a question thats not relating to this thread, plz start a new thread :p

edit: And no, I dont rate SSCUS one bit.

Why not just by a dc2r and turbo that? Get the best of everything???

FlavzzTEGRA
17-08-2006, 09:41 PM
well that sort of defies the point of the comparison in terms of price, but yeah that would be nice,

why dont you rate the seats Qball?? quality/comfort??

Well I bought my DC2R for the pure reason of keeping it stock..

Well apart from 16x7 rims and HID lights that is, But thats so minimal it doesn't count.. :D

You're only one of a few haha
But yeh, my comment was made in general :)

For seat enq, start another thread, we dont want to trash this thread with SSCUS quality discussions ;)

If you want a turbo car with handling, go the WRX (you mentioned it earlier)
If you like the tegs, Type R

If you really want to turbo, make sure it is done properly. This includes strengthening internals and lowering your compression.

drop a itr engine in it, its great fun and reliable ass. but at the end of the day just buying an itr will be easier and probably the same cost.

k24a + coilovers + lca's + swaybars + bride seats = dc2r beater / track machine. and if that isnt enough, comptech make a supercharger for the K24A that'll give you more torque.
