Looks like Honda will be releasing a sucessor to the S2000. The new S2200 will feature a 2.2L i-VTEC engine making around 185kW and should weigh in at under 1300kgs (well thats the goal of the Honda engineers). Torque is expected to be around 235Nm.

It will be a hard top, however, dispite the extra weight it is destined to be quicker than the S2000!!

First public appearance is planned for January's Detroit Motor Show and I have also heard that peak power and redline will be lower than on the S2000.

Anyways, here's a pic curtesy of http://www.prelude-fan.de

it's not the looks that bother me, it's only the 9kw increase that bothers me :(

Its meant to be a bit more torquier with more power earlier.

Don't know how that will show with the weight factor increase though.

looks like it is meant to be an rx8 contender

i have also liked/loved the s2k.
not a huge fan of >2 litre engines though.
I just how this thing has a huge compression ratio and high redline (thats what hondas are all about  )

Probably more power will be able to be extracted from it too, would love a spoon modified one
:D

yeh i agree, looks a little like the rx8, although the s2k did come out first =) i'd like to see the boot be expanded a little tho... seems a bit compacted to me... but yeh, overall looks good.

I love the roof - but I loved the beasts that inspired the S2000 - the S500/S600/S800 :) They came as a coupe as well as a hardtop too and this incarnation is a tip of the hat to the original hardtop :)

This thread is going nowhere ... Check out the S2000 International forums - S2Ki.com @ S2000 Talk, on the first page, there are official pictures, figures and statistics on the new S2000 with the 2.2 litre engine. Everything else mentioned here is really just pure speculation.

That is a Photo Shop s2000
The picture you have posted has been going around for 2 years now on older forums.
No such car, the s2220 is all a hoax :)
There is a new s2000 coming out with a 2.2lt engine though.

I quote, "The pictures in this thread is really close to final production, but the front will not have such a big opening, it will be a bit smaller, but of the same design. The headlights though will feature a really cool corner blinker that looks like a projection head lamp.

The rear will have a new bumper and it will feature oval exhaust tips. The interior gets two tone seat leather and has a new center arm rest that has this silver/metal looking compartment. the radio cover is also silver now.

The instrument panel changes a bit. the H/C and the Fuel guages are now both on the right and look like half circles. The engine is a 2.2 liter with 240bhp and about 167lbs of torque. Not much more, but the gain hits real early in the power band and sustains all the way through.

Unfortunately the redline is now 8200 instead of 9000. Lowered because of the longer stroke in the larger engine. The wheels are 17s. I dont like the way they look but their bigger. Big deal? Other changes are in the taillight, which i dont like. the yellow blinker in the tailights are in a different place now.

As for driving the car. Its definitely more punch in the lower RPMs. Not only does it have the extra torque, but Honda has re-geared the gear ratios to make for shorter shifts from 1-5 and the 6th is unchanged.

I know that a lot of you will require proof before heeding anything i've just said. When the 2004 comes out in October 2003 at the dealers. You can all go check for yourself and if I'm wrong... then you'll know that I'm full of shit, haha!

For now those of us who own the pre-04 S2K's, there's not much to fret. The 04's are better but nothing to blow away the predacessors."

And finally, the genuine Honda 04 S2000 accessories/OEM bodykit on display for sale when the car is released. Call it whatever you like, S2200, S2000. It's simply what is shown. And Honda Australia has no indication of whether Australia will be getting the 2.2 litre or the concurrent 2.0 litre 9000RPM real mcCoy. Honda Japan will not have the 2.2 litre, while the current only market with the 2.2 litre is the States.

There are virtually endless color combinations on interior, exterior, roof in Japan. It's what the local countries request for that differs.

No, unfortunately not. That's the different between JDM and export. If everything is released, there is no exclusivity.

so how much does it cost for a hardtop and a rear glass window for the older model s2k's from the honda factory?
