Hi Guys,

I've decided its time to change my crappy tyres (after they've led to an accident:( ), so am now suddenly thrown into the wide world of tyre varieties.

After speaking with a few people I've narrowed down my choices to the following (in no particular order):

1. Goodyear Revspec RS02
2. Michelin Preceda
3. BF Goodrich G-Force Sport
4. Sumitomo HTRZ2
5. Bridgestone G3
6. Yokohama Advan AR01
7. Toyo T1R

What I'm after first and foremost is improved safety...ie grip & breaking. Secondly improved cornering and handling:D . And lastly, good tire wear (based on normal day to day driving) & for it to be quiet.

I've read through all the tyre recommendation threads on this forum, but have not been able to reach a conclusion.

So please, post up your top 3 tyre choices (out of those given) based on my criteria above. Also if there is any tyre which is not there, that you would recommend for me, please post it too.

Cheers:thumbsup:

Hey mate,

As I said in the pm, make sure the tyre you choose has the correct load rating (minimum of 82 for the EK sedan). And choose a decent tyre - a buck saved there is a buck spent on your life IMO.

Tyres are your only contact with the road - you can have the best brakes in the world, but if your running shitty tyres, then you're screwing yourself over.

I reckon any of those you listed would be good choices, but my pick would be either the Goodyears, BF Goodrich, or the Yokos.

I just got a set of Dunlop SP Sportmaxx and I'm very happy with them. Pricey ($220ea fitted + balanced - and that's on special), but well worth it, IMO.

Not much road noise (no noiser in comparison to the Nexen N3000s I had previously - if anything they're slightly quieter), but they're grippy and handle really well. You'd expect that from tyres that won the Wheels magazine Tyre test.

These are the ones Im leaning towards the most. Haven't heard a single bad thing about them, and by looking at some tyre reviews / surveys it comes up in the top 5 all the time.

Have u owned a set mrwillz? If so how did u find them in terms of grip, breaking, lifetime, handling / feedback

how many kms do u usually get from a G3 if driven normally and never tracked?

I've spoken to my mechanic today (Indy from IS Motor Racing) to get his opinion...and he straight out said the G3, and mentioned that the Michelin tyre is more for larger cars, and is not really suitable for something like a Civic.
