Tell us more? Whats your setup to get them sort of figures? I didnt think a B20 was that capable without a turbo.

Nice. What compression pistons are you using? Is it sleeved?

using 11.5 comp piston but after decking the block and machining the head would be close to 11.8 11.9 ..

simular to my b20, power peeks at 8500RPM dont make much power past that

Out of interest, how much power did tinkerbells old B20 setup make, and what time did he pull?

tinkerbell had around 120KW from his b20 in a da9 and he did 13.7

maybe he had a better launch

mind you, the 142.kw's is done on shootout mode#4 - diff to the mode #81 which pulls out more power .

getting a 2.2 60ft at 101mph just shows that it could be a better launch

#81 is the one adrian usually uses on dyno days - pulling out a higher reading.

you can't compare a DA with an EG sedan. There's a weight difference. But from your mph, your car either not really making that much power or your clutch is slipping real bad. The times are similar to our Eg sedans. We are getting 13.8/9 with our H22 and B18CR eg sedans also at the 100mph mark. Both these engines unopened.

are u sure EG sedan weighs more than the dc2r, i dont think so :S.. the b18cR sedan ran 13.83 with a 2.0 60ft and the h22a sedan ran a 13.9 with a 2.1 60ft...
MPH seems to be too low for the power ur putting out, must be the clutch

Should be the clutch problem. Time to ORC now.

So do I... Tinkerbell made 120kw atw with stock B20b internals which is running ~9.5:1 compression

I wouldn't worry too much about the power output until you run it at the strip...
What i WOULD worry about is running 85mm bore on stock b20 sleeves, with 12:1 comp. That is pushing the factory sleeves right to the edge.
What sort of RPM are you taking it to?

barefootbonzai
07-09-2006, 03:37 PM
8000rpm. Previous owner was taking it to 9000rpm with a worked head. Guess we wait and see.

I dont think the stock sleeves are as weak as everyone makes them out to be, I think alot of people just use it as an excuse for the poor tuning they had. High compression should be fine if tuned properly by someone who knows what they are dealing with.

i think it will be fine as from my experience,my mate b20vtec with built bottomend is still running its been over 2.5 yrs now,and also 1 of my mate b20vtec with really hi comp and a fully worked head but the engine was only used at the track and it redlines at 10500rpm and been racing that engine for 1.5 yrs and blow the engine with a crack sleeve,i guess that happen from the hard driving and hi rpm all day long.

In all honesty kiet, i personally think that the car can run much faster with the amount of torque and power it makes.
