View Full Version : Heel pad under the driver's feet

After just two months of driving, the carpet under the clutch pedal is showing wear. A heel pad would have stopped this.
I'm not keen on spending $300 for 5 taylored Honda Mats and have looked for an alternative, to no avail.
Does anyone know of any decent alternative single mat (one that doesn't smell like bad rubber) that fits under the driver's feet of the Accord 06' and where I might be able to buy it from?

It's an idea I'll look into

Have also written to Honda to ask them if they will sell the Mat for under the driver's feet as a single item.
Like my chances?

Yeah
$180.68 here in Brisbane.
But I was quoted $300 for them when I was doing the deal on the car.
Not quite as bad as I first thought ....
Thanx

$300 would have included the rear mats as well.

Didn't you get the floormats thrown in with the car?! Just get something that is similar in shape from supercheap and put that on.

I got my mats for $145 from Highway Honda at Springwood in Brisbane. They wear pretty quickly too.

4 universal honda mats from the dealership put me back about $65. The front ones have 'honda' printed on them and the drivers side mat has heavy duty carpet to prevent wear. If ur after a cheaper alternative that cood work.

Well, I've tried to get a single Honda Accord Euro mat for under the drivers feet but Honda will not supply it unless enough people ring up and ask for it.
So, if your mats are wearing out and you want genuine Honda then let them know Freecall 1800 804 954 Customer service Number.

$165 is the best price I have been quoted so far for a set.

I had the same prob with mine being the ivory floor mats(stupid really), I went to supercheap and bought large boot liner type mats and traced the floor mats then fit over the floor mats.

The black looks kind of good coz it matches the dash and if it gets muddy you can hose them.

When you sell the car (if) your original mats are brand new looking!!:D

I got aftermarket floor mats that was made specifically for the Accord Euro. Ordered them from Autobarn for $100 (front and rear) and they fit the car perfectly. Even the colour was a good match (ivory).

I tried the universal "cheapies" and they do just that cheapen the car and do not fit anywhere near as well. The five Honda ones come with a beaut locking device for the Driver's side and match the car's interior perfectly. I don't think they wear badly. I have a manual gear change so I move my two feet around a bit. You guys with one leg driving autos should not have a problem.

What material are they? Do u have a pic?

my mat is already severly indented below the brake pedal, expecting major wear in a year or so. Honda should have made the pedal part of the drivers mat rubber..

I recently picked up a set of genuine accord euro floor mats for $55 from a wrecker in near new condition. I'm taking them to an upholster to have the drivers side matt beefed up in the 'heel area'. Atm I'm thinking maybe a rubber/vinyl square or an overlay of some heavy duty fabric.

I just think it's really funny:

People normally buy car mats as a disposable item to save their carpet.
Now people are buying mats to save their mats!

Nowadays I treat floor mats as disposible items which I thought they were. I have shampood my cream Honda ones with no ill effects.Putting covers over your floor mats is a bit like puttiing a cover over the Kleenex box ;) . I used to buy seat covers then I realised all I was doing was making life nicer for the next owner. After 280,000kms our Peugeot's original velour covered seats are near as damnit to new where my Euro's (30,000km) beige leather seats have some belt and jean stains where the dyes have transferred. Is there a solution, in the dual context of the word?

Tobster ROFL u hava point.

But the Euro's carpet has a rubber section, and the Mat doesnt - thats the problem imo

I do agree that a rubber/plastic section under the pedals would be sensible -- and plenty of other OE mats include that.

Perhaps a suggestion to Honda for the future?

(Of course, there is the counter argument that an item that wears out needs to be replaced = more sales)

Actually most people would buy an aftermarket Mat if the Honda Mat wears down badly. And also because the Honda Mats only come in sets, so ur wasting money if the other Mats are still in good shape.

I doubt it since the TSX is Left Hand Drive and the front mats are oddly shaped and designed to fit the floor edges. you could modify/cut the part that protrudes up under the pedals for the drivers mat. The passenger mat might also need modifying. The rear mats may be ok though

I dont want to put my feet under the original beige floor mat, that's why i bought a set of beige normal floor mat from K-Mart which are discounted and looks pretty good! :D
