Is a throttle body per side of the plenum a good idea?
Also, what happens if the TB's are too big?
Stock is 60mm
I have a 65mm waiting to put on
But thinking of welding new plenum on and running twin 48mm
What are people's opinions??

you may get turbulence issues. who knows.
if a TB is too big you can lose intake velocity and therefore torque and power
i read twin throttle boobies... damn

there used to be a kit for Hyundai excels awhile back...netted decent results.
Was quite complicated and the price and results wasnt worth the effort

i upgraded my throttle body from 40mm to 60mm. Gain 10kw atw after tuning.

yeah but the original 40mm would have been super restrictive so cant really apply those results across the board.
spetz - this is for the FTO mivec engine right? you could well see some gains from upgrading to 65mm, as its not really that big for a 2.0l V6.

Yeah it is for the FTO
Stock is 60mm
I have a 65mm already
But I am thinking of using two 48mm from the 1.5 Mirage/Lancer range, on custom plenum, shortened match ported stock runners, and get rid of the dual length intake system
THe engine is in a lancer so low end power should be fine as it's much lighter than FTO
Just wondering whether the custom effort is worth it

Sorry I forgot to ask
Does anyone have a calculator type thing that can calculate the total open area of two 48mm?
ie it is equal to single XXmm opening?

(pie/3.14XXXX)r2
where r = radius.

(pi((48/2)^2))*2

Ok if you wnat to get technical there is no formula that has been created to find the true value of Pi there for its 3.14xxxxnonestop.

Ok because I am actually quite an idiot and I suck at maths, can someone please just give me the answer?
The total area of:
48mm
50mm
60mm
65mm
And, 2 X 48mm, is what in single? I am expecting around the 69-71mm mark?

48mm => ~1810 mm^2
50mm => ~1964 mm^2
60mm => ~2827 mm^2
65mm => ~3318 mm^2
2x 48mm => ~3620 mm^2

Which means 2x 48mm will give you same intake area as ~68mm, but I would think they would give different results....

Thanks ZeForce
What would to 50mm be then? Intake area if it was single that is? 70mm ish?
I assume the twins will be better as they should distribute air between the cylinders more even?
I also assume 2 60mm is over the top?? This would be the easiest solution for me :(

having two smaller ones will create more air speed where a big one will be more sluggish
so two shoudl be more responsive
but it will need a nicely tunened manifold to suit

I was just going to use stock runners, on custom plenum
Stock runners of course match ported etc and cut maybe 4 cm to make them shorter?
Also they have the twin length intake system which I will be getting rid of as well
